Soccer is the most boring sport on earth to watch. Period.

I for one would love to see us pursue it but hardly anyone I talk to has anything good to say about the beautiful game.
Louisiana has the right kind of athletes for it and a growing youth movement, if not lack of interest what stops us?
Good idea except LSU fans are completely behind the times and working 3 days a week to catch up.

I've seen just a few minutes of the LSU women's soccer team on the SEC Network, and virtually no one goes to the games. It's likely a few family members and close friends, but that's about it.
It wouldn't be much different for men's soccer. LSU sponsors enough sports that fans hardly attend (cross country, tennis, golf), so there's no need to add another one and just burn money.

The relative lack of interest in women’s athletics is universal, regardless of the sport.

They really think it’s an overflow game for the kids who can’t cut it in real sports

Nope, as a huge soccer fan, college soccer has been one of the biggest culprits in the lack of developing legitimate professional players in America.
Thankfully, with MLS and USL establishing real youth academies over the last decade, men's college soccer is becoming less and less relevant.

LSU draws well for softball, gymnastics and women's basketball, so it isn't the gender that's responsible for lack of interest, it's the sport.

Any sport will draw well if the team is good at it.
But by all means keep thinking soccer isn't a popular sport in America, specifically the south. Go look at which MLS teams have led in average attendance in recent years.

Sorry, guys. You can stump for a men's soccer team at LSU until your face turns blue (or even purple & gold) but it would be a complete waste of time and money at LSU. Other than a small pocket of fans, no one has any interest in seeing or supporting a soccer team at LSU. Deep down inside, everyone knows that.
But right now, it's time to watch Jayden Daniels play some American football!

Where did I stump for LSU soccer? I literally said I wouldn't support it because d1 soccer is a detriment to the sports as a whole.
My point is that your assessment for why it wouldn't get support is ignorant and dumb.

It should be grown by now they have drilled into our heads how the sport is growing in popularity every 4 years. I just don’t see it.

What a completely outdated and blissfully ignorant assessment. Not to mention this was most definitely posted by an overweight balding deytookerjerbs type of guy that thinks baseball is exciting. Let’s break it down:
quote:
It’s a fruity, boring game
It’s the most technically demanding sport. You’re only allowed to use your feet to catch and move the ball while multiple people are pressing you. Can you do that? The game doesn’t stop. It’s 90 minutes of non stop movement and action. That’s boring?
quote:
played by small, dainty people
Do me a favor and google the average height and weight of professional center backs. As a defender, you’re allowed full contact on the person with the ball as long as it’s shoulder to shoulder. You’d get your arse laid out multiple times per game. On corners, you’d get thrown to the ground like a little bitch while the ball was in the air.
quote:
who are basically marathon runners
You think you’re just jogging out there? It’s full out sprinting the entire game for 5-9 miles in total. That requires a level of athleticism and conditioning you couldn’t dream of achieving.
quote:
The only response that soccer people have is that “it’s the most popular game in the world”
See above, retard.
