No he was not. His secondaries were bad and his recruiting fell off. He was still getting good players in recruiting but certainly nowhere near like he did when his first few years at LSU. He got noticeably lazier in both recruiting and coaching then constantly tried to leverage other universities for more money. frick'em.
Also, Florida's secondary was bad last year. Remember JD had a career day on Florida through the air at that time too lol.

He recruited off the name that Ron Cooper built.
The best regarded football mind at LSU in the last decade was Dave Aranda. He thought so much of Corey that he brought in help to coach Corey’s position group.
Lastly his position group notoriously had quitters in it the last two years and had bad attitudes and underperformed terribly in 2019, 2020 and 2021

Btw the DBU name was not just built of the 5star talents like Peterson. That was Corey’s misunderstanding.
It was built off the 3 star athletes like tyrann mathieu and mo Claiborne that cooper found and filled out a defensive backfield of nfl studs

False and false. Trying to redefine the topic to suit your narrative is dishonest. Ricks was a freshman All-SEC and All-American, 3rd team All-American, and 2nd team All-SEC player so you’re objectively wrong on that as well. You’re simply being biased and misleading with your narrative plus you’re incorrect on the facts which you seem to be doing intentionally.

What facts am I incorrect about? Ricks played in 14 games at LSU. He was not a 2 year starter.
Smith had 4 tackles in his season at LSU.
