that's not what i've heard. besides, the players weren't all that fond of nick anyway. it was well documented that nick didn't teach, he yelled. thus, the breakdown at ark '02 and iowa '04

"hardass" lost the ark '02 game and the '04 iowa game because they were too tight. again, his teams have been completely romanticized to the point where people who say they want him back have completely forgotten what they hated about him when he was here

What's the difference between 2009 Bama and 2009 LSU? The talent level is virtually equal.

Why does one team appear 'hard' and the other 'soft'?

People have such short memories.

Even in the good years, people bitched about him "holding back Jimbo" and playing "not to lose" on defense against Arky and other teams.

He is doing at Bama exactly what he did at LSU. I will not be surprised if he wins the MNC in the next couple of years. Nor will I be surprised when the fans' expectations and boosters' pressure get to be too much, and he is out the door to the next challenge.

I don't say this out of bitterness or jealousy, but a guy like that does not change his personality at this point in his life. It's just who he is, and you marry him knowing this.

It looks like he's kicked that habit.. or have you not noticed Alabamas offense taking chances, etc?

are you serious? one team is recovering from a defensive disaster the previous year with a BRAND NEW d staff.

besides, bama hasn't even come close to hitting the meat of their schedule yet so let's wait and see before we make a hasty judgment. malzahn is going to be a very interesting challenge for nick. unfortunately, bama's schedule this season is very easy so this season might be misleading.

We shall see. It's not as if LSU never threw downfield when he was here, but there is no doubt the offense tightened up with regularity.

I don't disagree with anything that the man has done. Just as a player dreams of a job in the pros, so do most coaches. He was talented enough to get a shot (and he will again), and he took it. I do not fault him at all, and I would welcome him back in a second. However, Miles is our man.

The guru will have 5 losses by the time Nick gets a hold of him. He has been running his O vs creampuffs.

Seems to me that the Tide lost to Moo St. under Saban's watch in what was a poor 7-6 season. And I remember how frustrating it was watching the middling LSU team that got pwned by VA Tech in Blacksburg a few years ago (NOTE: Saban was coach then, too). And who can forget that pathetic bowl game loss to Illinois right before he left for the NFL under a cloud?

No thank you. Saban had plenty of signature (read infuriating) losses while at the helm at LSU. Very happy with Miles, current struggles notwithstanding.

I can forget the loss to Illinois, because it didn't happen.

If you mean IOWA...

Oops. That is what I meant.

I need more sleep.
