NIT already has two SEC teams-- Auburn and Oklahoma.

If they get don't get in the real tourney and if they accept the NIT bid.

They're among the First Four Out in most projections and will accept-- they're competitors, not wimpy weaklings like the "Fightin' McMen" of the world.

Hell yes we would play…these talented players are just on the verge of breaking out and going on a run. I’m ready!

throw McMahon another bone to try and prove himself

WTF?!?! Prove what exactly?
1. That he can actually beat a team he has a talent advantage over?
2. That he can run more offensive plays than a pick and roll or a single high ball screen before letting his players look lost until the shot clock hits 2-3 seconds and takes a low percentage shot?
3. That he can change his basic defense in game to throw off/slow down the opposing offense?
4. That he can fire up his players?
5. Etc. etc. etc.

Because in FOUR YEARS he has NOT done any of the basic coaching tasks from numbers 2 and 3 ONCE! We ran more offensive sets in junior high ball than this clown has in college ball.

He’s done number 4 MAYBE once and number 1 half the time.

I agree McMahon is poor fit here. Check my post history if you don’t believe me. He should have been fired last year. My post was not intending to vet the pros and cons of McMahon but to discuss what is likely to happen with the NIT.

With as poor as McMahon has been and with leaks suggesting LSU is considering not firing him (supported by him not being fired yet), one might argue that NIT could be a low risk opportunity to collect more information on McMahon’s coaching acumen to inform a future firing or retaining. I am personally fine with him being fired yesterday, but curious silence from LSU imo seems to signal LSU would play NIT and per dratings, LSU is projected to be a 3 seed.

They’ll fire him when we have a coach lined up. Possibly after April 1st if the target accepts.

Is it if additional information gathered by playing informs a future 15 million dollar + decision? I would have fired him already based on poor performance but since they haven’t and they are allegedly at least considering retaining him, playing could provide more context to inform future coach decisions.

LSU didn’t get an NIT invite last year to turn down. Not sure where y’all are getting this from.
