Yes. We could very well have been undefeated in the regular season. All we would have had to do is beat UGA in the SEC championship, and then we would have had an opportunity to go beat Notre Dame for the BCS national title that year.

After watching some of the prolific offensive production at LSU since 2019, the fact that Les Miles took a team that included Odell, Jarvis, Hill & Mett to Gainesville and scored 6 pts is just nauseating.

A backfield with Ware, Hill , Hilliard & Ford average 1.7 YPC and we went 1-13 on third down.

Not finding or preparing a legitimate weapon at QB cost this team more than just the 2011 title

Mettenberger would have been developed into the starter in the Spring of 2011 under any coach that wasn't mentally handicapped

Yep, and he likely follows the path that McCarron did. He is alright/serviceable in 2011 on a loaded team and LSU may find a way to win it all in Nola. He gets an entire offseason with a full season under his belt in 2012 where you probably beat Florida.

Without the loss to Florida, you likely have a 1 v 2 Matchup again in Tiger Stadium against Bama. Entirely possible that you could've won that game had you started a little quicker and didn't have to have the monster 2nd half.

If Les isn't retarded, he had a great shot to win 3 titles in 07, 11 & 12. His roster was plenty good enough to win it all in 2015 & 2016 as well.

Oh what could've been.

I do take some solace that even if we won all of that, Les was once again retarded and it would've all been vacated because of Vadal freakin Alexander.

Mathieu snuffs out the Yeldon screen. No doubt in my mind.

I bet he gets to McCarron on one of the many corner blitzes that "the Chief" called on third downs late in that Alabama game. He probably creates havoc early and often enough that they don't even think about calling the Yeldon dump off that won the game later.

Exactly. He was replaced by a pure freshman DB who blew coverage on the game-winning TD. LSU dominated that game & A.J. McCarron(?) had less than 100 yrds leading up to that last minute drive.

LSU was only 2 plays away from possible back-to-backs in ‘11 & ‘12….the missed field goal in the OSU game and the missed tackle against BAMA on 4 down.
Who knows !
