I think Vanderka is better than some of you are giving him credit for. Heck he threw a no hitter last year.

I'm not trying to be a dick but that kid wouldn't be a Top 15 pitcher in the SEC.
He might make a very nice 3rd starter for a team, but we shouldn't have struggled as much as we did against him, considering the talent we saw throughout the SEC season.

I don't doubt any of this. I just think some people are focusing on hte fact that he doesn't have plus pitches, and are ignoring the fact that if you locate your pitches well, which Vanderka did throughout most of the night, you can be successful regardless.

Correction....you can be successful against bad hitting teams....over the course of an SEC season I can't imagine SB having any pitcher (not counting the pitchers we didn't see much mainly the two drafted relievers) with an ERA below 3.5 - 4

Hits his spots, induces weak contact and has a d.
Helps when our players swing at bad pitches.
It's not rocket science.

That guy last night didn't hit his spots. He pitched himself into jams by walking batters, he fell behind hitters, yet LSU was so bad at the plate it didn't matter.

Pretty good pitcher, doesn't matter how hard he threw. Kept lsu off balance entire time

The quality of a pitcher isn't based strictly on how hard he throws, if it was Greg Maddux would have never been drafted. The last 2 SB pitchers moved the ball around the zone and they had movement. Face it, the better team actually won this series. LSU had the more impressive looking pitchers but SB hit the ball and played D.
