The NCAA calls all the shots. It’s their tournament.
They will have their rep on site handling things.

Why they have s as three day tournament with no make up day(s) makes no sense. This had to happen before. Rain in the spring is not rare.

The real issue with this is having a drop dead date. Why in the world can't you just push this back a until this weekend. They should have contingencies for weather other than "lets just move on with the highest seeds". The Championship doesn't start until next Friday, you could easily squeeze in three rounds by Sunday, our cut it to 2 rounds.

That sucks for those outside the top 6. There’s a reason you still have to go out and play.

This is absolutely insane. It gets threatened in baseball from time to time, but eventually the rain stops and the field dries and we play ball, a few days late if needed.

Why not move it an hour or two away? Go play at TPC. Go play somewhere. Hold a 36 hole tournament. Play 27 holes a day for two days. Do something.

The NCAA is the only entity in the county that is run worse than the federal government.

Wasn’t that the year they brought in the helicopter to get the rotor to try and force the water out of the outfield?

I think 1991 was the kitty litter year. There was so much rain the prior few months and tournament weekend that LSU ran out of field dry and could not get any in for days. So they used kitty litter to try to sop up the field.

It stunk.

Or they could have lightning rounds at a mini golf course. College women playing mini golf on Prime Time? This was made for live TV.

18 teams of five plus six individual golfers were to play.
All had hotel rooms except LSU.

It rained and stormed each morning. Each morning it quit around noon.

Once it quit the golfers have to get to the course and warm up. That takes time. Moving to another course one of two hours away isn’t as simple as telling your three buddies to met you for a tee time in NO if anywhere else. A lot more is involved in getting 96 golfers and coaches to wherever with their clubs, etc.

And then wherever you go has to be ready fir the tournament just in case.

Building in a couple of days just in case makes sense. Moving the tournament does not.

I will say this: Although this was a wet week and has been a very wet spring, The U Club is going to have to take steps to make sure this outcome never happens again. You can bet next time we put in for a regional, the NCAA will take a hard look at giving us one.

Just about everything is out of LSU/UC’s control.
They can tweak drainage, they can make plans for working the course after it rains; however, they can’t control the weather, the format, the schedule or the NCAA.

What steps would you have them take? The NCAA controls the tournament. They dictate the setup, pin locations, tee placements. UC's management & maintenance crew simply do as they are instructed.
