Landry had a great play coming back to the ball and making a nice catch when Jefferson scrambled.
Oh you mean this play...
"Jefferson scrambles to his right and has to throw the ball away........... it's caught!!!"

You asked what should have Jefferson done, he throws the deep ball over Randle's head and Les Miles catches the ball on the sidelines
He should have checked out of the play before the snap. The safety never moved into the box.

I just can't agree with this. I didn't watch it again like you, but I'm not going to give him an outstanding grade ever
FIFY
If you would have watched the replay in real time he is going down at 3 seconds. As CLM said that safety is not on the qb.

he held the ball for 5 seconds in his own endzone

Ok, 3 seconds, whatever...still plenty of time to know you can't throw the ball to your only option on the play, so you better do something besides get tackled in the end zone.

Right, so you think Les is going to come out and throw JJ under the bus? Yea, the play call sucked, but a senior QB needs to know he can't hold on to the ball in the endzone. He never ever sits in the pocket any other time, so why then?

3. Jordan Jefferson. Watch it again and he played lights out. he threw the ball incredibly well. he attempted quite a few long passes in this one that weren't complete, but they were all on target and he gave Randle a chance to go up and get them. Randle just didn't get them. He also scrambled well and took care of the ball. Had another long pass that should have been caught by Shepard. Jefferson looked outstanding.
His passes were still alittle off. Either behind him (Clement catch should have been a TD but he had to adjust to an underthrown ball) Or just to far (RS10's diving attempt. It would have been a great catch if he caught it) To say he was lights out is a huge stretch!!

Ford also picked up the blitz well and stepped up in pass blocking as well. A skill that many on here say that he has been less than adequate.

1. Francois--could not cover the TE at all. Same thing all season. his one responsibility is to cover running backs and TEs on passes and he never makes plays.

the uproar wasn't about him playing poorly, it was about Jefferson starting and then playing every meaningful snap while the guy who started and led us to a 9-0 record sat on the bench until the fourth quarter. I thought Jefferson played pretty well so I'm not saying Lee should have played all those snaps, but that's what the uproar was about
Oh. He Mad

My Observations:
1) LSU won its 10th game without any losses this season.
2) LSU remained #1 in the BCS
3) YAYYYYY!!!!!!!!

I watched it last night too Ryno and noticed similar things.
I agree with all of your "good" statements actually. I think we finally got a chance to see JJ's improvement from last year to this year. While I still don't think he's an elite level NCAA QB, he has improved his passing skillset. The biggest glaring deficiency that I saw was that slant pass to Randle, his windup still takes long enough that the defender could wrap RR up and keep him out of the endzone. Overall though, JJ had a great game, glad he showed that he can operate both dimensions of the offense if needed - that gives Arky and UGA more to think about.
Also note that upon the re-watch JLee ran the no-huddle really well in the 4th Q. Solid QB play by both #9 and #12 - Miles knows what he's doing in getting this team ready for our final 3 games (Arky, SEC-CG, BCSNC).
As to the bad:
Shepard has been...I hate to say it 'cuz I really like him (his swagger, his loyalty, his dedication to the team)...a bit of a letdown this year. He's got playmaking ability but he doesn't give himself the chance to shine because he keeps dropping passes. Hopefully he can clean this up, because if he can re-establish himself then it's going to be Saints-Lite in the superdome (meaning too many targets to cover).
I wouldn't put too much stock into SM99's performance, let him recharge a bit...it was WKU.

I agree. Not sure what all the uproar was about.

We should all love Lee, and yeah it sucks for him, I feel bad for him. But we don't really lose anything with Jefferson playing more, we gain a mobile QB that can also make plays with his legs. Jefferson's not the easiest guy to root for as an individual, but if the coaches think he's the better option, frick it...I just wanna see us win.

Main problem is the defense needs to learn how to cover back going out for a pass. Its killed us all year and Arkansas is taking note. Ask Trent Richardson. Hell ask Western Kentucky, backs out the back field off of a play action have eaten us alive all year.

Eaten us all the way to 11 pts/game.

Has anyone heard why Wing didn't punt on the free kick after the safety? You rarely ever see the kicker after a safety.
I wondered this as well. Asked a few of the guys sitting around me at the game, but they were too drunk to remember what a free kick was...
Seems like Wing would be perfect for a free kick?
