I don't think anyone is saying he needs to be fired prior to this season, that simply isn't realistic. But if he drops the ball, it is very feasible for him to be gone before next season or, at the latest, following the 2020 season.

I was not a huge fan of the process that got him here, but I have no personal beef with O. He's got personality (which we seem to have overdone since zero personality Saban) and a real rapport with the kids and a huge slice of fans.

"Done his job" implies that he has done at least a C or C+ grade job (maybe a little better) and I certainly can't disagree with that.

Back this down to some, and I might be with you.

I like some of the things he's done, but there is zero objective support for this. His tenure looks remarkably like Miles post-2011 tenure. Or, frankly, Dinardo's first 3 years. I'm not being a negative nancy, I'm being objective as possible considering I only have 1 football team.

Orgeron is outperforming expectations. If the Brady hire works, Orgeron has punched his ticket. Not a chance he goes. Nor should he.

Of course not, he’s done the job of treading water and not falling to the bottom of the SEC but to sit here and claim he’s built anything or won anything the way his two kids constantly tell us is pure delusion. He was left with a goldmine and hasn’t made good on his promise to “get us over the hump” yet anyone who holds him accountable or to the same standards as the last 20 years is attacked by these two idiots.

Any new AD will simply ask O if he has what he needs to be successful, if no I will get it for you.
Now your job is to go out and beat Bama and win the west or I will find someone who can.

This year will be his year to establish or he will lose some good will. No reason he can't go 11-2 or better.

The third year is generally considered the year a program comes into its own

I would assume under a new AD Orgeron would pretty much be guaranteed two more seasons (barring a regression in 2019), but he would have to continue to show improving results in the records.

The biggest difference is that a new AD isn’t tied at the hip to Orgeron and can be objective about defining success/failure for him.

Nah, there's legit reason to be optimistic this year.

There certainly is. There is also legit reason to worry about 2020 at this point. New QB. No one on the d line. O line and linebackers will have some big holes. We'll see Os ceiling this year. We could very easily see his floor in 2020. I don't think either will be good enough for an AD who is not tethered to him (let alone the fans). That remains to be seen, but I think a HC change is very possible (right) after 2020 season.

Agreed. I hated the hire. He hasn’t been as bad as I expected. He has done an ok job. It’s the first time since ‘16 that I’ve felt we have momentum heading into the season. There have been a few nice, surprising wins in his first two years and inexcusable losses......par for the course. Hopefully, the momentum they have built can carry over this year with a dynamic offense to go with the defense. I’m hoping, but definitely not expecting. They are set up for an 11-1 season. Hopefully, he can deliver.

incline?

O has gone 6-2 and 5-3 in the SEC in his two full seasons.

Before that, in Les' last 4 full seasons, we went 6-2, 5-3, 4-4, 5-3 in the SEC.

That's steady improvement?

What other schools so much as granted him an interview for a HC position following his dismissal from Ole Miss?

I feel like it would be an incredible mistake for whomever the new AD is coming in, to fire any active coaches. Things are looking up with football, softball, and men's basketball. The new AD could come in and make a big hire for women's basketball and have everything be as it is for the time being.

The frequent 'melt' on the Aggie boards is if Woodward leaves and comes back to LSU that he is going to take Jimbo with him, which personally is something I don't want to see.

only if your expectations were 5-3 and 4-4 in the SEC.

Those aren't my expectations, I can guarantee you that.

I agree.

The West is amazingly strong right now. Could be 4 of the Top 6 teams in the country. Add in the East, and potentially 6 or 7 of the Top 12.

There are only 3 or 4 teams in the nation that can stay on the field with the SEC champs, whoever that turns out to be. The difference between 2 losses and 4 is extraordinarily thin at this point.

If we define the "modern" era as the beginning of SEC play (for our purposes), then LSU has lost at least 2 games in every season except:

1933 7-0-3 (just weird - LSU had 47 tie games, but 6 of them in just 2 seasons, 1933 and 1953 and went 14-2-5 in the first 2 seasons of SEC play)

1946 9-1-1
1958
1961 10-1
1962 9-1-1
1969 9-1
1987 10-1-1
2003 13-1
2011 11-1*

Most people i talked too and most former players were pulling for Coach O to get the job. I do agree he has proven to be a good hire as the program is on an upward trend.
