Eric Brown Jr. from Parkway High School in Bossier City, Louisiana.
We sure could have used this guy last year. Hard to believe we missed out on a home grown talent like him.
Last year's stats: Brown hit .330/.460/.544 with 19 doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 12 stolen bases in 57 games as a junior at Coastal Carolina
This is what the Brewers had to say about him: “We like the glove,” Brewers vice president of domestic scouting Tod Johnson said. “We’ll give him a good shot to stick at short, and if not, he can be a really, really good second baseman.”
Good luck to the young man!

Sorry your son didn’t get offered by LSU Mr. Brown.

We had Doughty at 2nd, no?

He was the SS at Coastal Carolina.

Eh, Mainieri mailed it in on recruiting years ago, we missed on a bunch of players. Johnson is better at evaluating talent.

No matter who the coach is we're going to miss out on LA players who end up doing well elsewhere. Too much talent in the state for it not to happen.
In the end we just want the best players we can get and Johnson will do that nationally, not just in the state.

Thompson had just 1 error his last 11 games of the season, 2 in the last 16. He settled in by the end of the season. Unfortunately had a lot of missteps on the way there.
Just as an FYI - the guy from Coastal also had 19 errors this season. Did field .930 which is notably better than Thompson though.
This was way back in 2019 grad class. We took Doughty and Cranford in-state as SS types. Doughty turned out really well, just not at SS. Cranford, well, wish we would have got this kid over him. Funny enough, Perfect Game ranked Eric Brown Jr. the #10 player in the state of LA; Cranford was #11

Congrats to a Louisiana guy Brown!
Looking back at Perfect Game 2019 rankings
Brown
#473 National
#85 SS National
#10 Louisiana
Collier Cranford
#500+ National
#125 SS National
#11 Louisiana
Definitely a miss if Brown was not offered, but it's not like he was a sure thing in 2019. Look at some of the other top 10 guys.

ETA: Thunderbird - missed reading your post before I posted. We had a similar thought it appears.

I’m curious how they missed both Brown & Amani Larry, also from Parkway.

This isn’t necessarily true. There’s more than a few kids from this years stud class who originally committed to Manieri and Cain, who just kept their commitment after Manieri retired.

This will always happen, in every sport, but especially in baseball. The game is way to unpredictable. The most recent notable example that comes to my mind is Tanner Hall. If someone would’ve told me that Tanner Hall would end up an All American and Ty Floyd would struggle the way he has, I would’ve laughed.

Johnson is better at evaluating talent.
