re: With Leavitt Flaws - Best Hope for Major O.L. Improvement!

An improved o line won't change the fact Sam isn't a passer. Our wr's are open. Most fans think we are missing "that guy" at wr. That's not the case. We have guys wide open and Sam can't hit them.
Worst of all he hasn't improved.

An improved OL and WR unit will improve QB play?
Tom Brady won many Super Bowls with good not great OL and mid WRs.
It begins with your quarterback: improve your accuracy and stay in the pocket, allowing the play to develop. I recall hearing numerous complaints about JD5 regarding his tendency to run, his lack of accuracy, and his failure to let the play unfold. However, when it's a white quarterback, there's often a long list of excuses given by you RanTards.
Oh no, I'm race-baiting..

Well we have enough info in the 3 games to see that as usual the Rant is wrong with the “QB is to blame for everything” schtick.
- you have the abysmal Oline play at guard leading to a high sack, pressure and tipped ball rate
- Leavitt had no problems with tipped passes at ASU, his rate has gone from 8 in 612 attempts to 4 in 93 this season
- PFF has tracked him as throwing 1 ball into danger this season yet he has 5 INTs
- his accuracy when targeting Green or Watkins is elite. That drops off a cliff when targeting other pass catchers
All of this info is being ignored so fans can whine about the QB which is what they do anytime we lose a game at LSU.

This season? Not by much. The kinds of problems he has don’t just get fixed from week to week. We’re pretty much stuck with what we’ve seen the last few weeks.
We were able to win with a very flawed Daniels in his first year because of his legs and the fact that, despite his inconsistency, he could make plays in the pass game when he got into a groove. The season isn’t over and if Leavitt can settle in and start trusting his WRs and the system in-season, then we can see some improvement.
I would feel a lot worse without Kiffin and Weiss, but they have done this before. They have proven they can get the best out of a flawed QB.

Daniels was 8/20 80yards in a win vs Auburn in his first away game. Half of those yards were because Emery took a screen a long way
He was completely non-functional as a passer in that game and the Arkansas game and we still won both. Defense and a run game travel.

Burrow’s first game vs Miami he was 11-24 for 140 and 0 TDs. What’s crazy is we saw some of the operational genius with his checks at the LOS in that game and were excited about him. Now a days the younger fans would be bashing him as the worst thing that’s ever happened to LSU. Thats just what the board has become, catastrophe syndrome in overdrive and nothing but panic 24/7.

True the OL passing protection has been poor. No one disputes that. However even when the line provides adequate protection, he is indecisive and bails.
-I have no way of knowing about his tipped balls at ASU since I don't think that's a typical stat category. I have watched his tape from Miss State last year and he was really off. They rolled him out a lot to get him away from pressure.
-Regarding throws into danger, I don't think he's reckless with the ball. It's more that he doesn't appear to be decisive in his reads or he misses them completely like Harris running free in the end zone. Moreover, he doesn't trust his eyes or his receivers to "throw receivers open".
-Drops are inexcusable but that's not the main problem from what I see.
Sam's numbers this year thus far aren't much different than his breakout 2024 season.
2024- 61.3% completion, 8.2 yds/completion, 206 yds/game
2026- 61.7% completion, 7.9 yds/completion, 244 yds/game
The only difference is Passing TD production which was higher at ASU.
I hope Lane and Charlie can scheme around or simplify some things, and coach him up. His mobility is a plus but he has to up his game.

I’m not exonerating him of the plays he did miss just to be clear. Only that fan reaction has been wildly unreasonable regarding him. Biggest issue for him is trusting his down ladder pass catchers. His footwork, poise and accuracy when he’s targeting Green or Watkins is night and day compared to his pocket behavior when he’s looking for anyone else. What you’d like to see is him delivering balls confidently no matter who he’s throwing to. The only thing with that is if they’re not where they’re supposed to be and we get a bad result the reaction will be the same here. You or I might realize “well he did his job” but in the court of public opinion he’ll be bashed just the same.

Agree.
What do you see as his flaws? Be more specific.
I see a huge throwing motion.
I see not full trait in the talent around him.
He thinks it has to be all him and probably because he has always had to do that whether he has played.

Part of that comeback was Sam, part of the failure was Sam's missed opportunities and part was Spears injury.
And losing Trey'Dez.

A slant is pretty simple. Unless of course the ball is batted.

This was the big knock on Daniels in year one. He didn’t feel comfortable taking any risks and he didn’t trust his WRs to go out and make plays one on one.
I’ve never heard of this being an issue with Leavitt in the past. Hopefully it’s just his limited practice time in the system and with these WRs. If so, we should see some improvement over the season.

Being realistic is understanding we are in game 3 of a Lane Kiffin rebuild of the program in his image. Some of y’all need to chill out with this crap, lol.

you really think Lane doesn’t know how to run an offense? it’s an execution problem….and it has been that way for a very long time at LSU….
