With 7:38 left in the game and a 12 pt lead we got punched in the mouth

Coming out of a time out OM hit a 3, we turned it over and they got an easy layup to cut the lead to 7.

I'm sure there was a collective sigh across tiger nation as we all muttered "here we go again".

This time though they didn't get rattled, they played hard, fought for rebounds and stayed vigilant on defense. It was a turning point for myself as a fan.

That dammed second half was the most complete half we've played all year.

I was definitely expecting that same scoring drought we saw in the BAMA and ARK games at that point.

But I was glad to see that we fought hard to keep the pressure on.

The defense by Waters, KBW, and Taylor was what won this game. If we can get Naz to play defense with the same intensity as KBW we will be able to win a bunch of games this year.

Some bad shot selection at times on offense, but this game was a definite improvement in a statement win on the road.

Same, we answered every score OM had for the rest of the game.

not sure i like how you organized this thread, but i agree. We blew a late lead against Arkansas and had to beat them in OT. This was a good showing when it seemed we would revert back to old ways. Proud of this team.

Bigby Williams was a monster
Waters started slow and finished strong
Skylar Mays is killing it from deep
Marlon Taylor has serious skills
Naz Reid, while he didn't really have the stats, his presence provides better basketball.
Smart is just a gamer

Strong squad. i cant decide whether this is a team that will feed off of a win and stay hungry or fall back down again... to be seen. I will be watching

Yes. I’m like you. I make knee jerk snap decisions on the state of a program and whether a coach “sucks” or not in real time as a game progresses.

SEC refs don't know how to deal with him.

It will be fun to watch him match up with Jeremiah Tilmon of Mizzou. The refs will be confused as to who to call the phantom fouls on.

Team starting to rise to the occasion.

Smart has the confidence to silence a run with a big shot. Marlon Taylor just never stops. Mays and Waters are showing a little more poise, and the bigs are just too much for other teams to handle when they're hustling and crashing the boards.

When it happened my first thought was “lets see if the last two games helps us here” and honestly I think it did. Having that confidence that we can win the game even if we do give up the big lead, helps with not giving up that big lead.

Not gonna lie, I was pissed at halftime after witnessing that extremely ugly first half. Glad I didn't turn it off and go to bed. Hopefully the team can keep the momentum going.

No complaints, roster full if 1st time players ( transfers and freshman ), SEC road game, home team on winning streak, and we won by double digits and people are pissed? WTf

Was a great fricking game.

Marlon Taylor is going to lead the SEC in "number of times putting his balls in an opponent's face"

And maybe teammates too...

Even after that OM cut the lead to 6, but Waters buried a 3 to put it back to 9.

Overall, the team defended as hard as they have all season. And for as much grief as he gets for some bad turnovers, Waters has no fear of taking big shots. Looking back, that 3 was a back breaker for OM.

Same thing I was thinking. I told my wife, "they usually blow a 10pt+ lead with just less than 10 min to go". My always optimistic wife fussed at me saying "they're going to fight back and not blow it!" On the road against a good Ole Miss team, and they played tough with a win. If they can cut back on turnovers, stay aggressive on the boards, and nail a few crucial threes, they can develop into a really nice team! They seem to be on that path now!!

Naz loses focus as he gets closer to the basket...

Let me rephrase that. Naz does not increase focus as he gets closer to the basket. He needs to get better in the paint. He certainly has the natural ability. I hope he gets better in the coming weeks.

Watch how good he becomes in the paint as he develops in the NBA. It's going to be night and day between his time here at LSU and the NBA.

As a fan that's a little frustrating because you see the potential but we don't get to benefit from the full potential.

I guess that goes for most of college ball unless you are Duke and you have kids on your team that are NBA ready out of high school.

Wasn’t there a stat saying we only lost twice under wade when we had the lead at half? Doesn’t seem that way.

If this were the OT, I would ask for pics of optimistic wife fussing....

But alas it is not, so you are off the hook.
