With 1 to 2 strikes with that last AB, I would have called this play…

This play only works with a left handed pitcher on the mound. Have the runner on first take an aggressive lead. Before the pitcher throws, have the runner on first break as if he is running to second and then falls down. The purpose of the play is to force a throw to first. Once the pitcher lifts his leg to throw to first, the runner on 3rd, who also has an aggressive lead, breaks for home. This was a play we had when I played college ball and every time we ran it, it worked.
Sometimes you have to manufacture runs when you are having a terrible day with RISP.

Even the Aggies are smarter than that. Good try though

Definitely would have been worth a try with 2 strikes on Joubert.

I nominate you for our coach. We also need a new 3rd base coach. Why Travinsky was held at 3rd on pop fly double earlier in game is beyond incompetent. He ended up out at home on squeeze bunt by Dugas.
LSU was horrendous w RISP all game. Came back and cost them in the end.
Tigers pop up and strike out way too often w chance to advance runners on base. That’s how you lose close games along w bad relief pitching at back end of games.
We get this cleaned up we can beat anybody
In the country. Let it happen…..

Or the pitcher just steps off the mound because they are college athletes coached by professionals not a group of 12u kids coached by their dads.

Sounds like a great way to have a base running out end the gane

Travinski has to read that and decide whether to head for home or wait to see if it drops. That was not even close to being a hit, so Travinski should have been rounding third when that ball landed. He wasn’t. He just had a bad read on the ball. That’s not on the coaches.
Once the ball dropped, and Travinski was still between 2nd and 3rd, they had to hold him, with zero outs(?) and Travinski being an ice wagon.

Somebody gets their baseball knowledge from tik tok.
Weren't you the guy talking about playing college baseball yesterday? If that's true, you would think that you would know that it's a fluke play that is pretty unlikely to work.

Could work, or could easily end in an out to lose the game.
Pitcher steps off and looks home or the pitcher throws to first and the 1st basemen fires it home in time

LSU is 0 fer Season with runners on third and less than two outs on putting a ground ball in play to the right side to score the runner.
I think we’ve had 5 or 6 opportunities and we never even try.
It’s sad

Lsu has actually been really good all season with runners at 3rd and less than 2 outs

This is a terrible joke right?

Pitcher is a left handed pitcher and once he lifts his leg to throw to first, is when the runner from third breaks home. The runner breaking for second pretends to stumble like he’s an easy out target but is a distraction to both the first baseman and the pitcher. The goal is to have the guy from 3rd score before he’s tagged out. You’re definitely giving up the out for the run in this scenario. If the runner hits home before the runner on first base is tagged, the run counts.

Would you take LSU football not winning the SEC championship to win the NC?
Yes? Okay

I absolutely played college baseball. It wasn’t D1 but NAIA and my college teammate is the current coach at Auburn. My college coach coached Palmero, Will Clark and others with Ron Polk while a grad assistant at Ms. State. He ended up coaching many years at Birmingham Southern then at UAB. Brian Shoop is his name and was an excellent fundamentals coach. So, no, I don’t get my baseball knowledge from Tik Tok.

*not even being caught (I know what you meant)
But I disagree to say it’s not on coaching. This entire season we have run into outs on the bases while many times not taking extra bases that are available to us. For 90% of the season if a ball didn’t get past a catcher all the way to the backstop, we didn’t move up to the next base. That’s how you get 23 hits, 6 walks, 2 hbp, and only 8 runs over 18 innings.
Our bad base running has been an issue all season long.

We’re talking about a particular scenario here where our normal big at bats aren’t producing in this game and situationally late in the game we had an opportunity to manufacture a run that would have led to a tie game at the end of 9.
We’re both right.
