What would be the hold up?

Positives
It would draw more people than 15k.$$$

You could really see what your team looks like.
The players would like hitting someone else instead of your team mate for the last 2 months

With the new portal, I doubt schools would want a chance to show other schools their talent live and in person.

Cons:

* You'll only host every other year. (Somebody's gotta be the road team.)

* You think Spring playcalling is bland now? Play another team and see what doesn't happen.

* Exponential increase in injury risk.

* Still doesn't count in the standings. So while you might draw more eyeballs (and $$$), it's not going to be as much as you think.

* Travel and expenses for the visiting team.

So essentially you want the NCAA to adopt a spring pre-season game?

Hell no. Some may not like the spring game but I do. It gives everyone a chance to play and gives the fan a little taste of football before the season.

I think bringing in another team would be stupid. Theres no upside to it.

This. I'd also argue that some programs already draw big crowds for spring games.

Here's another angle concerning the transfer portal: I don't think it would be smart risking injury due to the portal. You could lose a player at a position where another player has already transferred.

Well they already hit in full pads. So an injury is going to happen if it does.

What if you get like Tulane or South Alabama in here?

I was thinking any of the state schools in Louisiana and play it like they play the pro bowl and make hitting the quarterbacks off limits.

I believe now that college football is practically year round now, and there seems to be less emphasis on spring practice; for those reasons I don’t think so.

LSU and Southern could have a controlled scrimmage like a practice and I would entertain the idea of watching them run plays against each other.

If you want to play football and worry about being injured, you need to find something else to do.
