It's basically an entry level position. "Player development" in ncaa isn't as hands on as the pros obviously, he'll probably be doing liaison and mentoring type things.

He went through it all at LSU. He was a key piece of the Final Four team as a Freshman. Had to miss a year due to injury (note: I don't think Brady gets fired in '08 if Mitchell doesn't get hurt. He would have been in the lineup with two future NBA players, Thornton and Randolph).

He was a huge piece of the SEC championship team in 09. Then the ONLY piece on a horrible last place 09-10 team. Through it all he always played hard.

Damn, it was a Rollercoaster of emotions just reading that

Tasmin is a really good dude and I'm sure he appreciates this opportunity. He's my fraternity brother and I keep in touch with him on a regular basis.

Taz's role will be as a liaison with former players, especially those of the 06 team - when have we ever seen Baby, Tyrus, DMitch, Lazare at any event?

He'll be huge in getting some fire into the players. He will kick their arse, he isn't happy with he had been seeing here. And a guy with his resume at LSU and love for his school he will get after them.

Also I can't imagine him not being a pretty big help in recruiting, especially in state. He's gone through every role possible and will be able to easily relate with some of these guys.

Great hire IMO

yeah this is just a PR/Marketing role with recruiting as a focus, esp for the local area

they may as well name his role "goodwill ambassador"

Personally, this isn't one of LSU's 3 assistants. This is a guy who will be important in recruiting Im sure as well as a personal mentor. I think its a great opportunity for Taz as well as a great hire to have someone who is respected by so many people from Louisiana, especially people in basketball circles. I have never met someone who has had a bad word to say about Taz.

He's been playing pro basketball for the last decade.

That more than qualifies him for a non-coaching developmental role. He is support staff. Similar to Ronald Dupree, who paid his dues and is now a full-time assistant at Nevada.

On campus, but not off campus. He will likely have a community outreach PR role in the area.

I'll never forget how overcome with emotion Tasmin Mitchell was on senior day.

Great Tiger who loves LSU.
