I laughed. More like a bucket more clues. Great debut. This guy can coach. LSU Basketball is back!

Will Wade asked about defense: "Yeah, we should have been better. They should have scored around 50."

Give this dude a lifetime extension ASAP

I’m going to go ahead and say Wade is the best basketball coach LSU has ever had. Of course there will be some growing pains the next year or two. But look out world- we are back!

LSU BB is back. Back to what it was when Dale was here. I was a sophmore when LSU’s new coach, Dale Brown, began his reign. LSU beat Memphis State, a team that as I recall went to the Final Four. Dale coached for 25 years and fielded some great teams, though the last 5 years or so were disappointing. Dale had a clue - nobody else’s teams since are anything I want to go back to. Now Dale was Dale and wasn’t perfect, but I sure did enjoy 20 years of “clueless” basketball when he was there. What I saw tonight brought back memories-of Dale’s teams, nobody else’s.

Let’s enjoy this, but give Dale a break. He made LSU basketball.

Will Wade can bring LSU basketball to a new height. Like i said If we can put up a fence around our state and snag some guys from out of state we could become a powerhouse.

I was there too. Agree to disagree. He was a recruiter and promoter, but by no means a good coach. You cite the Memphis game. I’ll mention one. Didn’t he blow a 30+ point second half lead to Ky which still stands as some sort of ignominious record? I almost broke my tv. Didn’t he have Shaq, surrounded by some pretty damn good talent and underachieve? I give him credit for building the program up from insignificance, but as a coach he was mediocre to put the best spin on it. The famous Bobby Knight quote in reference to another historic blown huge lead ( elite 8 game if I recall correctly): “I was worried until I looked across the court and was reminded who was coaching the opposition.” “Freak Defense”. “Daddy Dale”. Give me a fricking break,

The program started downward after Art Tollis and Rock Huckaby left respectively. It was understood that Dale was the "coach" on game day, but Huckaby was actually the one doing the coaching. Dale even brought in Tex Winters for a stint, but never listened to him. Winters left and eventually joined Phil Jackson in Chicago and LA.

Would expectations to get into the tournament year 1 be too high. Because that's exactly what I'm looking forward to

I would settle for an NIT bid. 16-18 wins (7/8 SEC wins) would be awesome first year.

Doubtful

The SEC is arguably one of the best conferences in college basketball right now. I feel really good about the direction of the program but let’s not to ahead of ourselves.

I’m not saying it’s impossible but it would be downright amazing if he took us to the tourney in year one.
