The fact that you think getting rid of Bo Spencer was a bad decision is laughable. Sure he was decent on the court but his work ethic off it blew and he was high more often than he wasn't. He needed to go, and TJ was right to make him.

He would be the best player on this team this year. TJ did nothing to help this kid stay in school. I doubt you have any idea what really happened. I just know you don't kick a kid off the team in his senior year for who knows what reason. None of us really know what was going on, but when bo was good he was good and when he was bad he was better than most of these kids. I never saw him shoot from 5'-10' outside the arc like these kids are doing.

My persective FWIW:
1) We're talking basketball - it doesn't 3+ seasons "to turn it around". All that's needed is 2 quality players and a handful of supporting cast and a team can be competitive. With rare exception we were not competitive in the last two seasons.
2) Comparisons to Coach K are only remotely relevant unless someone wants to show: a) that we're comparing equivalent contexts (Duke '80 vs. LSU '08) and b) how many other coaches had three bad first seasons and then went on to shame/success. I suspect that the overwhelming majority go on to failure and I suspect that's what's ahead for us.
3) How long does it take to get "his players?" He has mostly whiffed on three straight.
4) There will always be coaches wanting to move up of which at least a few will go on to success. IOW, no problem with there being a HC who would come to LSU knowing that he will be expected to produce improvement, etc in 3 seasons.
5) Fire Trent now.

I really dont understand how you people don't understand is the year that's been circled for the past 2 years. Pro and Anti TJ people both agree...this is the year for him to prove his method of building the program will work or not work. He has an All American coming in with role players already in place. If he fails next year...then for the first time in his coaching career his method has failed...if it works...we will be stable and a constant for years to come.

you may want to actually look up some of the coaches first five years. i think you would be surprised. dale, it took five, trent at nevada, took five, coach k took four. johnny jones at north texas, took five.
basketball is much different from football. it doesn't take many players to turn it around. however, it does take time for a coach to build the relationships with those upper level players. why, because basketball recruiting starts when these kids are freshman and soph's in high school. (and really not in high school but a.a.u. camps/teams).
there is a reason why trent's recruiting is getting better and better each year. hopefully it show's dividends next year. i don't think it's unfair to give a guy four years to build his program. if he can't do it, make the change.

Still has many freshmen needing /receiving development with reinforcements on its way. He has kept the LA prospects in LA which was his primary strategy as starters.
I like him and I like his style as no one including TJ, enjoys loosing...so my vote is...another year

Not with me. I don't think he fits in well at LSU. I also think he's a crummy coach resting on laurels he might have accrued.

I think he has made many questionable decisions which are showing with the talent on the court or should I say lack of talent. Warren and Turner are the only legit day in day out SEC players on the team! Green might be a 12th man on a decent team because of his height. I think his worst decision and one that will doom him was hiring Nance over Randy Livingston. This staff has no charisma and Livingston would have been an equivalent of a rock star compared to Trent and his boys maybe that is why Randy didnt get the job!

Rl could have at least taught how to be a point guard

What style are you talking about, make one pass and let stringer shoot from 40'. No defense, no effort, no talent, and not much coaching going on.

Nance should be fired for an assistant who recruits as soon the offseason starts on Friday morning.

How is it getting better and better? He has signed one legit player in three years here. O'bryant is a legit high school recruit, let's see what happens when he gets here. O'Bryant is very athletic who can block shots and rebound with very raw offensive skills. IMO him not signing anyone his first two years was a huge mistake, the second mistake he made was hiring Nance, who doesn't even travel with the team. Is he paid as a part time coach? He better shake his staff up and get a really good juco player in here are we are gonna be in the bottom again next year.

That's coaching, excecution or lack of a strong offense, or lack of excecution. Style is his manner, but agree they have done poorly but hope he can turn it around. His asst coach not traveling with the team sounds odd.

I'd love to get Randy Livingston on the staff.

I bet Randy would love to be here too. Trent needs to get rid of Nance ASAP, it's putting us one man down when it comes to recruiting.
