Very entertaining replies thus far, although most of you are completely missing the point. Here's what I'm try to say... The fact is, I don't think that next year's BBall team will be down, even with Tasmin coming back (I think many people share this opinion). The following year doesn't look real good either b/c I do not see us getting any true impact player, esp post players, in this year's class and we lose Tasmin. I know that Trent is out recruiting hard right now but I don't see Ludwig or Derenbecker coming in and making the impact this team will need to be competitive in the SEC in the coming years. It's not that either of these players can't be role players or solid starters (esp Derenbecker), but judging by what we have coming back next year and the year after, I guess I am disappointed that we are not signing any players that will come in and make an immediate impact on the floor. Maybe I'm wrong about this (I've been wrong before), but here's hoping we sign a big, athletic, shot blocking, alley-ooping post player in the next year that can possibly guard the other team's post players b/c that was obviously one of our biggest weaknesses this year.
P.S. Yes, I might have gone a little overboard with the whole white angle, but when I think of possible impact players that can turn our program around for good, I don't picture skinny white guys.
P.S. #2 I think it's hilarious that some people are comparing these guys to Tyler Hansborough, Pete Maravich, and the Lopez Twins (who look like they could be part white). Freaking hilarious. Thanks for the laughs.

In other words, this is exactly the kind of player that Trent should be bringing in.
Bingo!!
Trent would be a fool to pass on these two. I have seen them play and no, they can't jump out of the gym or beat everyone else down the court, but they play hard, they play smart, and and they have the talent to make LSU better. If Trent coaches them up, they can both be solid SEC performers or more.
I two feel that at this time, Derenbecker is the better of the two and has the bigger up side.

Wow another LSU thread that turns into a battle b/t races...
i think athletic and heart should both be bannable words... b/c all athletes at this level are athletic and have heart, but both words always brings up the race card which we really don't need... so i think they should just be banned from this site so we can have have good sports dialogue w/o the race sprinkled in

How many really good, white, small forwards are there in NBA? Usually b/c this position requires a certain degree of athleticism that is rare to find in white players.
Let's see: you many have noticed this guy who just played in the NBA Finals named Hedo Turkoglu. He's pretty good.
If not, since you live in Baton Rouge, you probably have heard a thing or two about the small forward who starts for the Hornets. His name is Peja Stojakovic and he's a 3-time NBA All-Star.
The starter at the 3 for the Utah Jazz is Andrei Kirilenko. He was an NBA All-Star in 2004 and is the only player to have a 5x6 in a regulation game (at least 6 points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks).
Dirk Nowitski is normally a power forward but has certainly played the small forward position at times, and he usually plays like a small forward on offense in any case. Wally Szczerbiak is another small forward whose game has sufferd a little in the last couple years, but he was an All-Star in 2002.
Obviously, men with light skin can be very successful in the modern NBA at the small forward position. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to educate you on this topic.

aaron dotson, jalen courtney and trasnfer malcolm white all fit this bill. derenbecker will likely be a big contributer as a freshman.

again white, green and harris will be on board. courtney will be coming in. garrett green will help improve the front line with his return. storm warren could have a breakthrough season next year. harris can replace the athleticism, shot blocking and rebounding of chris johnson and probably even has a better face up game than CJ who had a nice game for a 6'11 player.
long way to go in terms of adding more players to this program. lsu has a committment from john isaac and is recruiting andre stringer very hard and they are after some other high profile kids like the kendrick kid from atlanta. despite the fact that they started recruiting him so late, LSU was actually in good position with noel johnson which would have obviously been a big addition. no one is expecting the tigers to be world beaters over the next couple of seasons, i just think you're basing this whole "argument" over the fact that coach johnson happens to have recruited a couple of white kids.
