If doughty throws the ball to first the game is different. Should Paul have pulled Hillaird? Probably not but players need to held accountable.

No probably about it. Pulling him was stupid.

Pulling him almost certainly lost this winnable game. He had gotten past the jitters after the delay and was dealing again.

He’ll be pitching a perfect game at inning 6, then Paul will yank him.

Need to pull him after 75 to save him for game 1 in Omaha

I wouldn’t put it past him and his “gut feelings”

I like the way you think, but pitching in game 3 if we win the next one is questionable.

He’ll pull Hilliard after 76 but let Marceux throw 125+ tommorow.

Will we score more than 2 runs?

If a ball gets hit hard Marinara will definitely pull him.

He is going 11 innings if necessary.

I guess that’s the crazy thing about baseball...it could be a 1-0 game, a 12-4 game or a 9-8 game. Who knows...

Easy to say that after the fact. If MH comes out and gets knocked around, yall'd be bitching that we didn't pull him. He was giving up loud outs, was ab to see the lineup for the 3rd time, pitched twice last wknd and had a 45min. rain delay thrown in. I'm ok with it. Doughty has to make that throw to first and we are probably still playing

Guessing you don't see the coaching issues associated with a 3rd baseman not knowing where to throw a ground ball in that situation?

He was about to throw to 1st..but while checking the runner back...he saw him going to 3rd in his peripheral. You don’t get depth perception with peripheral vision and he thought he could just turn and tag him out. It was a purely instinctual move..and had nothing to do with coaching.

Yep. Hilliard was shutting them down.
