re: "Will Patrick Mahomes' Small Hands Tank His NFL Draft Stock?" - [Headline from 2017]

Or that as long as you can throw the ball it doesn’t really matter. Drew Brees has big hands and he’s done plenty in the NFL
There is probably a point where you can’t really grip a football, but maybe 9” thumb to pinky isn’t it.
ESPN ran a very long article that goes into excruciating detail about how it doesn’t matter and the measuring system
Is flawed anyway as the pinky isn’t really gripping the ball like the other 4 fingers.

Mahomes and Tom Brady reinforce this theory.
Joe 9th percentile
Mahomes 25th percentile
Brady 35th percentile
You should read that as 91% of all QBs measured have bigger hands than Joe
75% more than Mahomes
65% more than Brady
1/8ths are a big deal in this measure, as you can see

I’m a fan of putting his hand size as 9 2/8, opposed to the more common 1/4.
At the combine, they don't simplify them. The standard unit they use is in 1/8". I'm sure it's just to prevent mistakes.

C'mon man. You're being silly.

Your reading comprehension is like 3 percentile

This hand span bullshite/ is a nothingburger. Try harder.

I wasn’t aware of that, seems simple enough. Appreciate the info

Absolutely
What is your theory regarding the very tiny small percentage of elite QBs with small hands?

How are you calculating this?
How many QBs do you consider Elite
What are their games sizes?
Blake (when healthy) and Vick we’re both very good QBs.
So 2/14 on that list is 14.3% success rate under 9” hands. How many QBs with 10” + hands turned out to suck for the elite ones?
Hundred more QBs will result in more elite QBs. But that’s just more chances.

Lol dude that is the whole point. QBs with small hands rarely make it because they have tiny hands. Most suck, but so many others do not even get a shot because it’s hard to be good with that limitation.
There are many more QBs with big hands...because, well, that’s what it takes to play the position lol.
It’s the same principle where you don’t see many 6’4” RBs...
Or very few 5’7” WRs....
Or 5’7” CBs
Jeff Blake was a journeyman career 56% passer
Vick was a 56% passer. Was never know for his ability to throw the ball outside of his arm strength

The nfl is brutal when it comes to this. It will absolutely eat you up if you cannot hit basic thresholds physically
Yes, there are outliers. Interpret the data as you will.
Purple and gold glasses will make you feel like your guy will beat the data. People fought that Cole Tracy was an nfl kicker lol....but non biased saw him as physically limited. Jarvis Landry on the other hand has been a physical outlier
Tony Romo is my hope for joe. Great pocket presence, throws people open.

There are clearly logical limits.if you can’t grind football you’ll have issues. But you can do that with 9” hands.
But there is no proof it Hurts or helps after a certain point.
There isn’t a direct relationship. Correlation doesn’t always equal causation.
If there was you wouldn’t just see more elite QBs with 10 inch hands but you would see a higher percentage of QBs with 10 inch hands being elite.
And you don’t really see that.
There are a lot more NFL WRs who run over 4.4 40s
Does that mean that running under a 4.4 is bad for you?

There is a direct relationship between Cole Tracy’s “physical limitation” and his performance. And there are plenty of physical attribute that directly to performance.
But there isn’t a relationship between hand size and accuracy or arm strength.

Sammy, so you contend you can throw an nfl ball just as good as a K2 ball?
Posted on 2/26/20 at 5:52 pm to Lester Earl
Is size the only difference?
But me? Yes probably just as good.
I also Have 9” hands and can’t throw as well far as Joe Burrow.

No but a 4.73 would be, which is equivalent to having 9” hands lol

You throw a lot of pee wee football as a grown adult?
How much farther can you really throw it?
And can you say 100% it’s not just because it’s lighter?
