Throughout the weekend, my answer was "hell no".
I don't know; it depends a bit on the rest of this season. Let me explain:
People who bitch about Les Miles are forgetting one relevant point- Saban is the best coach in the game, and it doesn't really matter who else is available. We will not be able to hire anyone who will give us a distinct advantage when it comes to coaching, we can only hope to find someone who can give us a chance. I'd say Miles has done as well as anyone else would do; Alabama is not competing with us, they're playing against history. As long as he's there that machine will keep humming, and the best anyone can do is occasionally challenge it- not surpass it.
2 weird things during the game broadcast- the little comment about Saban telling a reporter he was going to be a grandfather (and that was unprovoked, not an answer to a reporter's question). And then watching Saban leap into McCarron's arms after the win; that was way out of character. Nick's usually a joyless mofo, even when he is rolling in the BCS games... why the heck is he suddenly so giddy after beating a 2 loss LSU team?
He's rich, he's still healthy, he's achieved complete domination in the college football world. If he finishes this year 14-0, with 3 consecutive national championships, does he decide there's nothing left to prove, call it a career, and enjoy his family? I mean, the guy is over 60 now, and maybe the NFL experience made him realize he wanted something other than just football for the rest of his life.
If so, then ... yeah. I'd root for him to go out a winner, if it was his last game. Besides, if he lost, he probably would change his mind and unretire

If I knew Saban would retire if he wins it this year, I'd paint my car crimson and rename my son Bear.

No, it's a fine thread. It's an interesting question and one that a lot of people have enjoyed answering and discussing.

Uh...NO! Maybe if I hadn't lived in Alabama or 15 miles from the state line for the last 21 years! There are many good Alabama fans, but the insufferable ones far outnumber them.
