They were asked by the Athletic Department to stop playing it. The same Athletic Department that funds a lot of what the band does.

I just don't think they should bring the songs back. I enjoyed them too, but they were ruined. I guess i am a little old fashioned, but I actually think about the kids and families that come to the games. They don't want their kids hearing that crap. I am very happy to live in a free society that I helped fight for, but I am also ashamed that there are so many people that want to abuse their rights with public displays of vulgarity.

It's a bad idea for many reasons. I'm just saying it would work. The athletic department/LSU admin would give in because they absolutely NEED the band.

This must get posted once a week. You thank our student section for it never happening again unless someone pays off the band director to allow it.....IF that happens, I will go nuts!

Why can't they just do that; only play it during TV timeouts? Nobody watching on TV has to hear it, the whole stadium gets to hear a song that pumps them up, and the students can scream whatever they want. Win, win, win.
And maybe it's just me, but I sat in the upper deck (I think on the east side) for a few games in 2010 and couldn't ever hear what the SS was saying. I'd be surprised if the majority of the stadium could hear what the student section is saying anyway.

You can clearly hear it in the EU. I would guess the West Upper is the only place you may not be able to hear it.

"arse" isn't "bad" in the eyes of the FCC. When you add "hole", that's when you get too descriptive and in trouble.

Sure, I get that. But LSU Athletics was warned by CBS/ESPN, so they had to tell us to stop. There's always a bigger power. Let's say the band vetos and we get that right back, then CBS and ESPN pass over home LSU games because they get fined every time they broadcast those songs we love.

I'm 68, overweight, enjoy waiving my chubby lil arms up and down to the music. Happen to like the music. It does get me pumped. Just don't repeat the chant!
