They clearly had problems with this from time to time with GASO. It seems reasonable to assume that UT will be substantially better. As others have stated, I think the season goes as this unit goes.

Hard to really tell much from GaSo game because we rotated 5 backs and used 11 offensive linemen not including our starting LT.

Our backs also got a lot of short yardage type carries (goal line, or like 3rd/2 etc)

Definitely concerning. Not sure We'll know what the oline is capable of until the game starts

Doubtful, I have a feeling most of the game will be checking down to a RB in the flat because Joe won't have time in the pocket.

Our running ability will essentially just be change-of-pace.

Having Charles back is huge. Should definitely boost confidence and our ability to protect the edge on both sides. With that being said I didn’t think Traore did a bad job! He managed.

Run block yes. Protect the edge? Prolly not but we can counter it with RPOs and 3 step drops and quick passes.

Texas is gonna blitz we can beat it with draws, screens (if we can execute) and Joe if he checks down.

This is also a good point. Pressure is taken off the O-line substantially bc they won’t have to hold the d-line for forever like in the past. Everything is quick and makes the lines job easier!

I really hope having Charles back will shore things up. I do not recall the o-line pushing them off the ball. The passing game was good and the lack of mistakes was really nice (aside from Cush being downfield on the TD pass).

We'll see.

I think that blitzing will be the focus of the UT defensive game plan. Obviously they will try to confuse the linemen and JB.

If LSU can score first and take the vaunted Longhorn crowd out of the game...

I feel like I just jumped onto another board with this thread. But I get it.

I have no idea what to expect with LSU O vs UT D, but if I had to guess I would say they use playcalling to help OL. How well that works is a shot in the dark since we haven’t peeped the Brady/Ensminger duo’s chess chops — most anticipated aspect of this game for me.

I like us for the W either way because I think the D is just obscene.

Our ability to run screens will help a lot. (God that felt weird to type)

The D is going to give UT PTSD. They'll have nightmares for months...

And by that logic, since UT couldn't pressure LaTech, we shouldn't have any problems.

They will have some missed assignments, just like they did against Ga Southern and all last year. But when this group gets it right, they are one of the best Olines in the nation!!! But, with no blocking TE and no blocking RB, it will be difficult to stop edge rushers. Getting the ball out quick will be key. If Texas plays a tight zone blitz this could give LSU trouble. If they play tight man blitz Texas could get burned. 2 seconds is all one of our starting receivers needs to get up field. There's going to be some guessing game going on, get Texas in a strong-side blitz and run a screen on them and we get a chunk of yardage. If LSU tries to throw over the middle against the same defense we could get sacked. It's going to be a chess match and I put my money on Joe and Dave. Here's a fact, this LSU team is better than last years team, in all areas of the game, coaching, players, etc., this Texass team is not nearly as good as Bama or Georgia was last season. Texas is thriving off that Ga win, if they'd played in the reg season when Ga. still has a chance of making the cfp, Ga would have beat the snot out of them. Ga. had a mass let down, we all saw it, while Texas was riding a high of being relevant again. This game will show the college football nation just how far away Texas is of being elite and how close LSU is. That Ga game won by Texas is a mirage, and one the Texas people are judging their worth by, it's a delusion. We will all see come Saturday!!!

I cannot disagree with you, but it seemed that now and then the line was overcome with lassitude. I have no question about the focus, just want to see them move folks off the line.
