Shouldn't have to be this way, but Les needs another NC to get his credit...because you can't fool a fool twice.

Les needs one more NC, then all is forgotten with Nick Satan. We should have gotten it last year. We got screwed big time, but ya know what , "life's not fair, then ya die."

The last time I doubted Miles as a coach was the Ole Miss time management fiasco.

Sure he messed up there, but overall, he's been the best, most successful, loyal LSU coach EVER. Glad he's here.

I disagree. We didn't get screwed for the BCSNC. We played bad and then gave up after T. Richardson's touchdown run late in the 4th. Look at the tape and I think you will agree with me.

I like Les however I wish he would be more of an offensive guy being a former Michigan offensive lineman. We have a lot of offensive talent and a real QB if the coaches would only maximize that.

GOD bless LSU!!!

Great post....gotta agree.

Not that this matters to most (wins and losses are most important), but Les Miles is a GREAT person. He comes in second to Saban most times in the coaching comparisons, but Miles clearly has Satan beat in personality, humility, and general likeability. Miles does a lot behind the scenes in the community....and he rarely gets credit for all of it.

Obviously, wins and losses will determine Miles' overall future and legacy.....but we got a good one. Both on and off the field.

The method in which Miles loses some games tend to come off as moronic screw ups instead of just getting beat. This is the stigma that keeps him from getting more respect that is deserved of a coach I still consider a top 5 coach due to his won/loss record and his ability to sustain the program.

But Les will probably NOT have a heart attack on th sidelines yelling at some player who made a mistake.

I fully expect Saban to be carried off in a game on a stretcher at some game in the future...

The typical "upset" that happens to every coach/team comes off an anomaly that just isn't explainable like the losing team was flat or the winning team was playing out of their arse. The Miles' losses that the detractors speak of seem to be correctable brain farts...Mistakes that, if he eliminates them, he is easily considered a candidate as tops in the country.

Les is a GREAT coach.

Not gonna scroll through 14 pages, but:

This conference right now is insane.
Urban Meyer did everything right to build a dynasty. He couldn't handle the pressure applied by Bama, LSU and the rest of the conference, and left before it killed him. He probably will find the Big 10 much easier to dominate.
Bobby Petrino created exactly what he wanted at Arkansas, and could never even win the West, while 3 different West opponents won BCS titles. He flaked out, and now Arky is in shambles.
Saban has also created what should by all rights be the dominant team in all college ball, ala Miami in the 80's, and hasn't even won the West the last 2 seasons.

Right now, being ranked #6 overall means being ranked #4 in the SEC. That is a TON of stress for any coach. Imagine OSU's Gundy here. Within 2 seasons he'd go absolutely bonkers ranting about shite. Probably cart him off in a padded box. Les has shown he can continue to win in this environment, and also not lose his fricking mind while doing it. He might act goofy at times, but you get the sense he's having a blast, and in full control. That makes him a keeper in this league.

I can not forgive him for 1/9... I mean Les has screwed up a lot over the years with bad judgement in hiring decisions, recruiting mistakes, stubbornness and clock management, but to do such a poor job on game plan and team preparation in last year's title game is inexcusable. It is so hard to get into the title game each year, but to make it and lay a brick like that is still unbelievable to me. Bama may have been a better team last year, but to play so poorly and get smoked in the biggest game of the year is a direct reflection on the head coach.

Then you might consider becoming a fan of something other than college football. Go watch a movie, where there is an "ending"; and if/when you like that ending then you can be happy.

There is no ending to SEC football right now, and stressing any 1 game will make you bitter.

Last season Alabama had an awesome team, and at the end of the regular season they didn't even have a western division title to show for it. LSU had an awesome team and an undefeated regular season, and after the bowls, couldn't even claim to be the best team in the conference they'd just won.

Auburn last season was coming off an undefeated season and national title with the Heisman trophy, and less than 2 years later are in serious trouble.

Les has screwed up so much he's established the winningest LSU program in its' history, during the most fiercely competitive period of the SEC.

Bama was not the better team. People keep using that as an excuse for the loss. LSU plays it's game it beats Bama, simple. LSU had 2 experienced senior QB's last season and just as much talent as Alabama across the board. IMO, LSU was the better team.

Reason they lost is simple. They were not prepared for what was at stake, and as a result played like it. The adjustments at halftime were no where to be found, and the inefficient playin continued. We blew this game.

speaking of over used excuses. You were neither in the locker room nor on the sidelines and have absolutely no idea what, if any, adjustments were or were not made. Contrary to popular myth, they did call deep passes, its just that those plays did not work. This guy breaks it down pretty well LINK

There is a world of difference between not being prepared and preparing a game plan that doesn't work. LSU did the later.

In any evert, I would think looking at the current state of the Saints and Arkansas should make people appreciate Les more. You need talent first and foremost to win, but even talented teams need coaching when going up against other similarly talented teams.
