Also, I'd like everyone to remember that in 2012 Manti Teo was a close 2nd place for the Heisman

Dude had 7 INTs, 0 FF, 1.5 sacks, and 5.5 TFL

Last year, Grant Delpit had 5 INTs, 1 FF, 5 sacks, and 9.5 TFL.

And there wasn't even a discussion of an invite.

ETA:

Teo did have him beat on number of fake girlfriends with cancer though.

When Joe wins, he will surprisingly be the first #9 to win the award. 4 and 9 are the only numbers between 1 and 22 to have no winners.

That is very odd, especially considering that 9 is a popular QB number, and the fact that only QBs and RBs have ever won the thing, with very limited exceptions.

Because:
1. He played for Notre Dame
2. His girl frined (who was later proven to be fake) had died.

Right. And Ohio State is on a short list right behind Notre Dame when ranking media darlings. That is the point I'm trying to make.

There will randomly be a big surge in Chase Young or Dobbins or Fields votes. Or all of the above. It will water down Joe's margin of victory.

Joe should get every 1st place vote

However, jackass media members will not vote how they should, and will instead vote other players 1st to try and help get them to NY

In a world where 9 writers did not vote for Hank Aaron on his first Hall of Fame Ballot and 19 writers didn't vote for Ted Williams, there is almost no such thing as "unanimous" when it comes to voting for things like this.

Some "wannabe edgy" sportswriters out there with a Heisman vote will not vote Burrow #1 and try to push some "hot take" as to why.

This is actually useful though because it makes it really easy to spot the dumbasses.

Unlike most of the players on that list Joe will end up in the NFL hall of fame barring an injury.

Anyone who doesn’t have him number one should lose their voting privilege

Even Paaawl voted for Burrow before the game was over on Saturday.

The reactions were great:

Congratulations to LSU on winning the SEC title. Just voted for Joe Burrow for Heisman and Ed O should be National Coach of Year. Incredible season. #GeauxTigers

Of course you voted before watching the Big10 championship.

Coach of the year.... no. Matt Rhule deserves that.

Ohh, and Ryan Day recruited this team, coached this team to an undefeated season, AND has the best offense AND defense in the CFP. He's going to coach circles around Orgeron, and you'll have to eat that poor decision also.

That’s crap! You should wait until all of the championship games are played.

Pretty emphatic statement by Paul @finebaum considering there’s still 12-minutes remaining in the game (LSU-34 UGA-3)...

No need to watch anything else, Pawl? Your vote, and your FCC license should be revoked.

Maybe, there are a lot of petty voters out there. Here is the list of winners with the highest number of ballots they had a 1, 2, or 3 vote on. Ricky Williams in 1998 did not appear on on nearly 10% of the ballots? You may be able to make an argument for another player as 1 (and I don't see it butwho knows) but I don't know how you would have said he wasn't in the top 3.

There are three Ohio State guys who are ‘self proclaiming’ they are the best....

Actually kind of odd. I mean, don’t they at least talk to each other???

its not just the "media" the past winners also get to vote. I think there are 58 living former winner. If you've ever watched the ceremony i think its safe to say Billy Sims will vote for Jalen Hurts

It will probably be at worst one of the 5 biggest landslides

The controversy of the allegations caused a backlash. The same was true of Winston.

Young, Fields and Hurts will all get 1st place votes. Lawrence may get some as well. I don’t think Burrow will be left off many ballots. He’s been the favorite since the UF game and had several “Heisman moments”. He’s received the hype.

It’s no secret he will win. The only question is by how large a margin.

He will not. There are a ton of media assholes that will not vote for Joe, just because. This morning Mike Bianchi on Orlando radio said he didn't want to vote for Burrow because everybody was going to vote for him. He eventually said he would put Burrow number 1 on his ballot

His vote should be taken away.

I cannot believe Herschel and Bo weren't more lopsided. Troy Smith? Really?

I think so. He ticks literally every checkbox for a prototypical Heisman winner.

-Quarterback
-Upperclassman
-Undefeated team
-Video game stats
-Heisman moments

And most importantly IMO, no lapses. I think everybody has been waiting for him to have an off-game or for a team to finally figure him out and stifle him. But it just never happened. Completely resolute and unflappable all. season. long.

There is simply no single piece of evidence that voters and can look at and say "Yeah, he's really good, BUT...."

Unrelated, but this is the exact reason Ken Griffey was 3 votes away from being unanimous for the HoF. You have one chance to vote for him it's not like you can say "I'm not voting for him bc he's definitely going to win it this time, I'll get him next time."
