I'm anxious to see how Coleman looks maybe this Tuesday for an inning against ULL.

Here's a related question:

Who do we think emerges as the Game 1 starter for the regional?

And no, that isn't a smartass question. Game 1 is going to be against the 4 seed, some overmatched team we're likely going to hang 15 on. A SWAC school, or similar. You don't use Skenes against that. There's a chance you might not even use a weekend starter, but then there's the possibility you use half the bullpen if you're not careful...
Do we have a guy that could go 6+ innings if you just leave him out there? I mean, maybe give up 4-6 runs in that stretch, but we should be miles ahead so that doesn't matter? It would save the bullpen for the more competitive games, for sure.

For that matter, first weekend of CWS... again you risk running out of arms. But that's a big park, maybe a guy who sometimes gives up homers could just give up fly balls there.

The “leave him out there” guys were edwards and shores. I have no idea who we would go to for some length out of the pen

Coleman is 14 months post-Tommy John. I want to say the mean recovery time is 15 months. Based on Jay's responses, he should be getting close.

If LSU gets a team like Southern, I think you see Money/Cooper. Though there's a chance that Johnson decides not to screw around and goes to Little.

Back news is you lose Shores and Edwards for next year as well...

But at least you might get Grant Taylor back by conference. Noot should be good and Coleman could turn into your sunday guy.

so youll have 6 guys battling for 3 spots next year

Hurd
Little
Coleman
Hurd
Herring
Grant Taylor

for 3 conference starter roles.. 2024

the rest of the bullpen will step up, youre already starting to see it with Collins..

Dutton will come around. Cooper helps out. Guidry is coming along.

sit back and have fun watching them grow...

LSU also had 3 more pitchers miss the entire season.

quote:

Jaden Noot is a freshman with LSU baseball. He was selected as the No. 79 overall prospect in the 2022 MLB Draft. Standing at 6-foot-4, 235-pounds, he was rated as the No. 8 pitcher and the No. 33 overall high school player in the country coming out of Sierra Canyon High School, according to Perfect Game.

Jason Bollman will miss his second consecutive season for LSU. The last time he pitched was in 2021 at Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel, Illinois. Bollman helped guide the team to a 55-4 overall record. He finished the 2021 season with a 5-2 overall record, along with two saves. Bollman started in eight games and pitched 45 innings, finishing with a 3.97 ERA, 73 strikeouts, 21 walks.

Kaleb Applebey also came to LSU from Wabash Valley College. He was one of the most highly sought after prospects in the nation coming out of high school. The 6-foot-7, 220-pounder was ranked as the No. 2 player in the state of Illinois in the 2021 cycle, according to Prep Baseball Report. He was also ranked as the No. 112 right-handed pitcher in the nation, coming out of Mt. Carmel High School (Illinois).
