He will be on a different team next year, I suspect. Unless he's ok being on the "maybe I'll play my 5th year" train.

You have many good points. I've heard of other QB's trying to move forward a year sooner to the college level than they should.
I don't know the exact numbers, but it does seem like a lot of them don't fare very well.
However, the QB play at LSU has been so inconsistent this season. Why can't we see what he can do?
I don't think he wants to just sit around another year. It would not surprise me to see him transfer somewhere else after this year, just to see if he can get a chance to play somewhere.

He was very highly ranked coming out of high school. Maybe he just needs some coaching. And to stay out of Tigerland.

I don't think it is a stretch to say our starting QB for next year is not currently on the roster.
