Go watch game 6
you cherry-picked one game. I can do that too, but with a bigger sample size.

Games 2-5: Simmons shot 16-34 from the field, 1-3 from the FT line, and averaged 7.6 points.

Yes. He wore the purple and gold and started every game. He helped recruit Football players and basketball players here.

He’s a Tiger.

indeed he did - when everyone, including Musberger and Vitale on national TV, were BEGGING him to engage, and he balked. And this was after he balked at taking the game winning shot against Marquette earlier in the year (even the no-name TV analyst was shocked at that one, just like the rest of us).

His name alone does wonders for LSU with recruits. It gets our name in the door with a lot of elite kids, and doesn't harm us AT ALL in those recruit's decision making process.

Correct, but he could’ve “step stoned” at any school. Coming from Australia, he had no zeal for any American college sports. College was simply a speed bump on his way to the NBA. LSU fans lose their minds because he wasn’t rah rah over the top for our school. He’s just a very gifted Australian basketball player with a brief stopover in Baton Rouge. He didn’t dis us! He’s a good kid from a good family and we got to see him for a year in purple and gold. Appreciate that...and move on.

Game 6 and 7 were the biggest games of his young career and anyways his priority in that series was slowing down Kawhi which is a different animal in itself

it’s LSU that should be giving dimes back to Simmons. LSU paid Simmons zero and made a bunch of money because he was laboring here.

LSU made insignificant money from Simmons presence. His time here was insignificant as well. There are no tales of his performance or epic wins at LSU that will live on in LSU hoops lore.

The whole team quit on the coach. Did you watch the A&M SECT game?

Johnny Jones was the problem, not Ben.

With Naz, you never thought he was just being forced to play for LSU, can't say the same for Simmons.

Naz, just like Simmons, came to LSU to spend a year prior to entering the NBA.
Who was more NBA ready at the end of their freshman year?
Naz, even though he wasn't ready, left. I'm not pissed, I'm happy for him. Naz is living his dream. He did us fans a favor and helped us to a great season. He,like Simmons, will always be a Tiger.
If Simmons had been on the team last season, with Wade as coach, we could have won it all.
We all know it, though some for what ever reason let their emotions cloud their judgement.

Is what it is - you can't knock 1 and done players who go to college for a few months and would rather be somewhere else making money. 168 something million and he could be in college making $0... thats what college basketball is everywhere now

Is he a true LSU tiger - yeah of course. LSU has had 100s of players so why not. Ben Simmons was just a better fit for the NBA than college ball.

Well said.
LOL
There's a silly contingent that thinks LSU would've been better off without Simmons.
You know, those idiots that say don't pay attention to his stats, or doesn't matter that he was All SEC, SEC ROY, Consensus AA, and other accolades I can't recall.

His time as a Frosh spent here is in all time great territory and too bad it was under a lousy coach.

As soon as he shows some affection for LSU, we’ll love him back 10-fold. It’s that simple. Has he tweeted encouragement for his former team?

Tenfold, right?

The basketball bandwagon fans, who are very appreciated don’t get me wrong, are 5 times zones behind their own arse when it comes to appreciating 1 and done players. They hate Simmons and the hate Naz simply because they were 1 and dones.

Meh. I don't hate them at all. In fact, they are doing exactly what I would do in their shoes and what I'd recommend they do if I were their advisor.

That doesn't change the reality that it's pretty much the reason IDGAF about college basketball anymore. Basically, there isn't really a such thing as college basketball anymore.

Part of being the fan of any sport is that some if not most of your favorite players, or players you love to hate, are returning every year. Sure, you get attrition, but nothing like college basketball where nearly ALL of the good players are gone each coming year.

We have some growing up to do as a basketball fan base.
It's got nothing to do with growing up. It's simply that a fundamental element of what being a fan is has been removed almost entirely from the sport in question.

i say no. there are many "one and done" players that make an impact on their school. from all reports is that Simmons wanted nothing to do with LSU and didn't even practice with the other players.

he really should have just played in the Euro league for a year.
