re: Will another 4 or 5 loss season get Jimbo crossed-off Woodward' s future HC wish-list?

Why are you worried about who’s gonna be on Woodward’s wishlist? You lack confidence that Orgeron will get the job done?

Well I’m crossing you off the credible list completely for this lunacy.

I’m all in on O now. He’s our coach, I hope he wins every game. He certainly has my support. While there have been instances of concern, overall I like what I’m seeing in his first two years. There’s more work to be done and I look forward to seeing O achieve more this season and beyond. It felt to me our program regained some “edge” last year, now it’s time to take the next step.
All that said, your statement that I quoted above is ridiculous. A good argument can be made it was one of the worst hires in SEC football history. I’m glad it has seemingly worked out this far, and I have hope that it will continue to work out and get better, but on paper the hire was atrocious.

Why do we even do this?
What is the point of these divisive threads?
Ree, is that you?
At first I didn’t think so but now I am beginning to wonder...
On Easter nonetheless.

Now you're just trolling.
Take it down a notch so it's not so obvious.

When jimbo got hired by aTm posters said well that's it for O recruiting in Texas. They were basically saying that O wouldn't be able to compete with jimbo for recruits. Well they were right about one thing. O's not competing against jimbo. O isn't competing against anyone. He's getting highly rated recruits out of California and from the east coast. This could possibly be the best class that LSU has ever signed. LSU goes 11&1 with an appearance in the playoffs or close to it recruiting is going to take off even more. Recruiting is what's going to bring the hardware. I can't imagine not being excited about where this program is headed.

but on paper the hire was atrocious.
1) His players love O.
2) They play hard for O.
3) He got the micromanaging crap knocked out of him at Ole Miss - re-enforced by the Canada seaeson.
4) He's brought in a hot young talent to install the RPO/Spread
5) He's bringing in the Jimmy's and the Joe's at an elite rate.
Bottom line - the guy can coach - Aleva saw this (to the extent that he hired him). Very few others did (including me)

What are you talking about?
Jimbo had the #4 rated recruiting class this past year. You don't think that's competition?
We have to start pulling in #1 classes if we want to beat Bama. Recruiting is supposed to be this guy's specialty, and it's no better than when Miles was here.

After he loses 5 games this year anyone who mentions his name here will be laughed off the board.
What will that say if the coach who's 0-1 against him?

More defensiveness from insecure O pumpers. They can’t stand that there are numerous coaches out there who are more successful than O, beat O and have better resumes than O.

I'm talking about where he's getting the biggest number of his recruits not where he is rated right now but I want to say the class is sitting at number 2 with 12 recruits. There's a good chance soon that it'll be rated number 1 soon.

Alleva saw a blue light special and jumped at it.

Ben, I agree with your recruiting comments completely, except for where you said recruiting is what will bring the hardware.
Recruiting is the foundation for the hardware. Motivation, player development, in-game coaching and decision-making are the other factors that will play into winning hardware.

Ed Orgeron can recruit. There's no disputing that. But he brings nothing to the table from an X's and O's standpoint. He doesn't have the intellect. He has never been a coordinator, except when he appointed himself DC at Ole Miss, which was an unmitigated disaster.
So don't tell me what a great coach he is. To the extent that he just recruits and stays out of his assistants' way he can have success, but he's shown time and again that he can't help but try to micromanage everything.

I’m hoping that bringing in Brady is a sign that he’s finally learned not to continue this.
