Will an LSU player ever become a great coach?

Think back the last 20 years or so, do we have any ex-players that could potentially become a prominent coach?
Most head coaches these days were once players. Albeit rare for this to happen. Also, it seems like most modern players eye the media route post-football more than coaching. Is this true or does it just seem that way?
Thoughts?

I guess I meant more modern era players, BCS era players through present.

It makes sense. They’re still around the game but without the crazy pressure and stress that comes with coaching, still get paid well, still get exposure and potential benefits that come with it.

Are any of our former players heavily into coaching?
Guys like Kevin Mawae and Faulk are just analysts

Right, I have no idea. I never hear about them if they're out there.

Orgeron? Oh wait, he quit and left his “dream” school. Lol

Chevis Jackson is coaching DBs at Ball State
I think Shyrone Carey is still coaching HS ball?
Trying to think of other more recent examples. Of course there are the older guys like Robiskie and Greg Jackson.

This might be best example.
Chevis is in his 3rd year as DB coach at Ball State. Was named MAC recruiter of the year in 2017. Their secondary has sucked the last 2 years, but hey, a guy who is actually a coach in college

I vote for Damien James and Prentiss Jenkins being Hall of Fame coaches.

Trev Faulk has won an LHSAA Div IV state championship. Not sure if he is or ever will be college ready but he is great with high school kids. I'll tell you he is a class act in person.
He's been offered a college assistant or analyst position (can't recall which or where) and declined saying he felt he wasn't ready yet.
Not sure he'll be a great college coach, I think he is a great HS coach.

Karl Dunbar coached D-Line for the Dark Side. Now has moved on to the Steelers.

Usually they are ex-players who weren’t very good. Obviously they have to be cerebral, as well.

Dennis Johnson is LSU's DL coach

Duh. There's nothing new about that. It's always been the case

Saban, Meyer, Herman, Malzahn, Fisher, Petersen,Franklin didn't attend major colleges.
