Saban didn't coach us out of it in 2003. He put us in position to get in.

And LSU STILL needed help from Oklahoma and some random teams on the west coast to get into the BCSCG. We lost that year, at home, to an unranked UF team. We win that game and there is no question LSU is in the title game. Unfortunately, Saban revisionists believe that LSU was a lock for the title game -- we would not have made it if not for some outside help.

ALSO, the point about 2001 is great. LSU got into the championship game at 5-3 (tiebreaker got us in). LSU was 6-2 in conference in 1996 (yes, under Dinardo), but lost a tiebreaker to get into the title game. LSU was 6-2 in conference in 1997 as well, but again lost a tiebreaker to get into the title game. Just goes to show you that getting to the title game, either in conference or overall, is a function of luck any way you go about it.

In 2007, all of the top teams (real top teams) had 2 losses except Ohio State. So, they were the clear #1. LSU was as flawed as any of the others, but two things made LSU better -- they were a conference champion (sorry UGA) and they had destroyed another conference champ during the year (Va Tech...wait...was that 48-7 win a result of Miles coaching, or was it luck? Saban never had a win that convincing in his 5 years). They deserved to be in the title game as much as anyone, and showed it by destroying the #1 team in the country.

I'm not saying there was no luck with LSU getting to the BCSCG in 2003, but Miles doing it in 2007 was ALL luck. A one-loss SEC team with a conference championship is a good candidate for the BCSCG. A two loss team of any kind isn't going to make it 99 times out of a hundred. Fortunately, Miles BLOWING IT to Arkansas was bailed out by a COMPLETE fluke. Actually, a series of complete flukes.

And Saban never got to coach the teams he built, which would have been 2005-2008, loaded with talent and, if coached competently, vying for multiple championships.

But, he's doing more at Alabama with less, and when he continues to own the hat, maybe you'll finally get it.

I agree we should give back the national championship since there were so many better teams that year with less losses.

I love how lsu "fans" put down our nc just to insult Les. You know how many other schools would love to put down a nc? Some of you are rediculous. Nick Saban is never coming back it's time to move on!

I sure wish you anti -Miles' fans would quit using logic to back up your arguments. It is getting old. I enjoy looking at our 8-2 record and thinking everything is just blooming p&g in tigerland and then burying my head back in the sand. Thanks I appreciate it.

You are completely full of shite.
You know nothing about football or coaching. Do not presume to tell us what is "wrong" with a program that has a NC and SECC in the last 3 years, wins every bowl game for the last 4 and already has 8 wins this year and will go to a bowl game.
You are an arse.
Can't handle tight logic, eh?

We went because of our game against VA Tech during week 2 of that season.

Also defeating a highly regarded and ranked Tenn. team in the SECCG helped, just as defeating UGA in '03 for a second time was huge.

) Les has done an outstanding job at recruiting. Nobody can deny that. 2) Was loyal to LSU when his Alma Mater came calling.

without these two then no matter who we hire we will not consistently win 10 games.
