Parrot...I wish. I sat in that freezing shite also. I remember that I decided to not wear my FCS Blazer because of the weather. ( member's green sport coat with the FCS/Cap One patch) I left it in the car and figured I would just retrieve it after the game for the member hoopla/guest relations stuff. I was os humiliated at the conditions of the field, I refused to even put it on that day.

As a side....I did meet Joe Pa and at the time thought it was cool as hell. Funny how that can change. I did not personally meet Sandusky, but I swear I remember a guy there who I am sure was him.

It was a bad day all around. Les was a gentleman, but you could tell he was not happy with the conditions.

Isn't the Cap One Bowl contractually obligated now to take the loser of the SEC CCG? In that case, Cap One is taking Georgia or Bama, not A&M or LSU.

Thanks for your info and insight Barrister. A bit of ration around here is refreshing.
Some times it's difficult to have a rational conversation amidst all the children.

I don't think I've ever heard that

I don't think they are contractually obligated, but they often do seem to take the loser of the SEC CG.

You have to have thick skin here bra. It's like you just wondered into a snake pit and then got pissed because you were bitten.

Good information though. Thanks!

F*** you and that shitty field LSU was forced to play on vs Penn State

That was an epically bad field for sure but that won't happen again but the weather here that time of year is most years perfect. Much better than Dallas Jan 1.

if the loser of the SECCG has a better than 2 win advantage over another team they must be taken, or something like that.

i could be confused though

LOL....yep the conditions were horrible...and while FCS and the government entities have "rebuilt" the field, that whole debacle is one reason I am no longer a member of FCS. But, hey...I appreciate you guys blaming me personally for the conditions. Let's get together over coffee and talk about it...perhaps you can entertain me with the many different ways you have learned to say Eff this or Eff that. That would be fun.

Appreciate the info.

Question, how many people are on the committee?

It just seems more often. Funny what tends to stick in your head.

Close...

the Capital One Bowl is contractually obligated to select the winningest Big Ten and SEC teams that do not make a BCS game, or a team within one win of the winningest in its conference

After reading this thread I'm reminded of why sometimes people don't feel comfortable posting here. We can't get the childern to act responsible......

I think the loser of the SEC Champ game tends to get screwed, actually

Slive has intervened to keep the losing team from sliding too far. Ga or Bama at 11-2 will go before A&M.

Not really accurate

2005 SECCG - #13 Georgia 34 #3 LSU 14; LSU fell to the CFA

Slive intervened at this point

2006 SECCG - #4 Florida 38 #8 Arkansas 28; Fla to Cap 1
2007 SECCG - #14 Tennessee 14 #5 LSU 21; Tenn to Outback
2008 SECCG - #2 Florida 31 #1 Alabama 20; Bama to Sugar
2009 SECCG - #1 Florida 13 #2 Alabama 32; Fla to Sugar
2010 SECCG - #19 South Carolina 17 #1 Auburn 56; SCar to Cap 1
2011 - 2 SEC teams in BCS game; Ga to Outback

So since 2005 only 1 SEC loser has fallen past the Cap 1 bowl. Last year was an exception due to 2 SEC teams in the BCS game

Barrister, Thanks for the info. Sounds very credible.

Question: how much influence does the SEC have over the Cap One's bowl pick? Would the conference step in and influence the Cap One's pick in any way?

this is correct.

Additionally: The Cotton Bowl and Outback bowls are contractually obligated to take the SEC CG loser if they are no selected by the Cap One Bowl, depending on which division they are from.
