Interesting insight. I too was a member of a bowl selection committee for 12 years. I can remember meeting in the SEC suite at halftime of the 2007 SEC Championship Game and hashing out the selections. Then, Missouri and West Virginia lost later that night - threw everything into disarray. The selection process is not nearly as scientific or well-defined as the public believes. Mostly political and economic in nature. But, the speculation is fun!

I think you sat by me for a game this year. You live on the North Shore or you friend does.

they usually do. it's wrong if you ask me. last yr bama sat on the sidelines and benefited from that and this yr it looks like florida will benefit.

The Capital One bowl gets first pick after the BCS bowls. So let me ask you this....you have an opportunity to bring arguably the most electric player in collge footbal to your bowl...a freshman who may likely be invited to NY for Heisman consideration...and a team who you normally do not get a crack at...a team celebrating success in it's first year in the SEC...a team with a tabid fan base that travels well. Trust me....Cop One takes A&M, which likely send us to Cotton.

Completely agree. There should be some caveat stating that the loser of the SECCG can't be passed over for a BCS bowl by any team within it's conference that has an equal or lesser record, or something to that effect. Just doesn't seem fair that Florida will pass either division winner Georgia (who beat them) or Alabama (they didn't play).

Florida is deserving of a BCS game. They beat LSU, A&M, USCe, FSU. Pretty good résumé.
