If Craig is guilty of doing that with the promise of getting the WR job at Bama, his career SHOULD be torpedoed. If true, Coach O should make sure this gets around the coaching circles.

Most likely he steered smith to Bama. CEO fired him, and prob now Saban doesn't hire. Perception of hiring our cast-offs is not gonna fly with Nick (Ed knows this). If all true, he torpedoed his career.

I'm just not feeling the Saban angle. At least not him following through and hiring a guy like Craig. His WRs haven't flourished the last two years, and he had a subpar year recruiting this year. Why would Saban want him? He pretty much always hired guys who can both coach and recruit well.

Now, I could ABSOLUTELY see Saban dangling an offer of a job on the condition of delivering Smith, and then conveniently forgetting about it after signing day. That sounds like vintage Saban to me.

He rode Doug Mallory's coat tails, when he was the DB coach, and was no where close to a decent coach.

If Alabama truly wanted Craig why would Craig not go before NSD? That would only help Bama and hurt LSU. Makes no sense for Craig to stay through NSD if he was going to bama, let's be honest its not like Saban was trying to "do the right thing".

I also have a very hard time believing that Craig was fired over missing a couple of recruits. Craig was the alabama recruiter, I don't think you blame the new guy from Alabama for losing Louisiana recruits. That would be absurd, no matter his title the first year.

I think it had to be either compliance or personality things. I could certainly see an argument happening between Craig and O, and with Canada coming in O just wanting to go a new direction.

I never really understood a former quarterback teaching young wide receivers how to become NFL caliber players. If you've never played the position...how can you coach it?
Because as the quarterback you control everything on offense, and you know how routes need to be run and developed.

He hired Sark, though. A lot of people think Craig is about to join Saban's shadow staff.

Smith was never coming to lsu, he didn't need to be steered anywhere.

He'll be committed to richt and uga after his sophomore year. Never was coming here

Little would be an overstatement. There wasn't anything there that wasn't already said here.

Fans help build a team up not shoot it down , if we would of lost Coach O this year it may have been ten years before we had a 50 percent winning season in Sec !

I'm surprised I haven't seen speculation on recruiting violations given the timing of it.

If this was the case, LSU would have reported it immediately.
