Yea, because Jimbo only had success with Jameis...

There's no doubt that Jimbo is a better coach than Sumlin but without Jameis Jimbo doesn't have a national championship and is just another pretty good but not great coach.

Espn FPI hates LSU

ESPN FPI is really strange. Look at it's SOS rankings, LSU jumped 15 points in the remaining SOS rankings for seemingly the Tech game being in the past. The calculations behind it just seem off and they seem to count home-field for more than it should be counted statistically.

No we haven’t. First of all you said since 2016, that means after 2016 and the 2018 seasons is only 1/3 thru so not 3 seasons even including the 2016. Learn proper English before calling out others for not being able to count.

Next he was hired BEFORE the 2018 season so why are you counting that in your hiring scenario anyway? Before being hired he had 1 bad season, you don’t dismiss it but you shouldn’t treat it as the end all be all either

OK? Sumlin didn't have anywhere near the kind of success Jimbo had, so I'm really failing to see your point.

It's mainly record and rank when evaluating a team. Don't try to undermine their rank and record of LSU. You're reaching.

A&m is not a 8 or 9 win team. They could lose 7 games. They could lose to Kentucky, miss state, s Carolina, Auburn and LSU.

Maybe because A&M is improved and showing signs of life while LSU is just showing signs of mediocre on offense yet again.

Jimbo is a good coach but he's not this great coach that as a fan of LSU I am fearing to face. I am more worried about what Kirby Smart is going to do with UGA than I am with Jimbo at A&M.

We are also 2 months out from this game. LSU has looked better than expected and A&M still uncertain, but not good against Bama. That line and % will assuredly change the closer we get

I think it’s reasonable to think Jimbo is just a good coachmaybe Richt with a NC or that he won’t win another one, but this without Winston stuff is a cop out. If he inherited Winston that would be 1 thing, but he recruited him, signed him and developed him. Winston was a high 4* coming out so not viewed as a omg can’t miss prospect. We’ve seen coaches with Uber talented QBs that didn’t win before.

Let's hope you're right, but what he's accomplished in his career seems to paint a different picture.

Another thing that comes to mind is how would Jimbo be doing right now if he were still at FSU coaching the exact team he built and recruited. They are pretty bad this year and that's all of his players. Coaching makes some difference but I don't think it'd make that much of a difference. He was slipping big time and wanted out before it was too late IMO...

He wanted out after 2015 and Alleva dropped the ball. It's no secret he wanted back in the SEC. I'm not holding his lack of effort in the last year at FSU against him. He's shown he's a winner.

I'm just not seeing the point in trying to downplay his success.

LSU hasn't put up a full game yet all season. They had:

1 good half vs:
Miami
SLU
Auburn
La Tech

They've been terribly inconsistent and that isn't going to work against good teams. Furthermore, LSU can't rely on getting a 10 yard slant to turn into a 75 yard TD (largely luck) like vs Auburn.

LSU is a good team, but not as good as some would like to believe and not as good as their ranking is at this time although they've earned it with who they beat.

Miami is not a top 10 team and won't be come season's end. Auburn may not be either.

People need to stop using rankings from the first 3-5 weeks to mean jackshit.

I remember when USF was #2 early on, but I doubt people later in the year were claiming their team beat a top 5 team come season's end.

Home field advantage is big piece of that fpi formula. If it were at LSU we would be favored. A&M is a good team as well.

Your view is not unreasonable. But consider he was flirting with LSU for 2 years before leaving for A&M. Apparently he had issues with FSU over facilities and salaries for his assistants. Maybe it was just time for a change? At A&M he will have all the resources so we will see what he can do. I see no reason at this point to think he will be a failure

The only thing ESPN has been good at is being consistently wrong
