So what, OP? Does it really matter this far out from the game? No reason to invent grievances.

Your view is not unreasonable. But consider he was flirting with LSU for 2 years before leaving for A&M. Apparently he had issues with FSU over facilities and salaries for his assistants. Maybe it was just time for a change? At A&M he will have all the resources so we will see what he can do. I see no reason at this point to think he will be a failure

I knew about that and it crossed my mind, could be feasible that he gave up there. Just don't see that trait in great coaches I guess is what I'm thinking. We will see what he does in the long run but I like LSU's chances against him unlike what I can say about Nick Saban from the day he stepped foot on Alabama's campus.

It doesn't really matter, no. Neither does anything that anyone on this thread says. This is a RANT forum. We are supposed to bitch about injustices. I could understand if it was a 50/50 matchup. But we are being predicted to lose 2/3.

I just don’t understand why anybody would care enough to start a thread to rant about something this irrelevant to the next game. And yes, I am ranting.

Jimbo vs. Orgeron But like the poster above said. It doesn’t matter.

That also is reasonable but maybe a tad harsh, if the relationship soured and he was butting heads with the administration over facilities and coaches salaries it’s just not gonna work better for everyone for him to get out. Maybe he didn’t leave them as stocked as thought but that’s no excuse for struggling with Samford and getting bent over by Syracuse.

Absolutely did, been following religiously since 1998. I don't know how that was similar though. Saban coming off a national championship and flirting with the NFL but his team was still good and built for success. Les Miles came in 2005 and went 11-2. LSU had given Saban all he had asked for and LSU was primed for a dynasty run with just one problem. Saban had an itch to coach in the NFL...and the rest is history.

bingo. saban quit at the cap one bowl knowing he was leaving and had checked out. it cost us a 10 win season (plus we got screwed at auburn, coulda been an 11 win year)when we only played 11 regular season games, that was NOT a 12 game regular season. rickydaddy and myself had this exact conversation many times.

I disagree that he quit but even if he did, one game? He didn't quit recruiting or game planning or anything else. Like I said, that 2005 LSU team was still a very good team that Les inherited unlike the team that Taggart inherited this year.

But you said quitting is a trait great coaches don't possess. Saban did it here and at Miami.

Well, I don't see it as he quit at either. He did his job at the fullest until it was no longer his job. Iowa beat us that day unfortunately, not sure what Saban would've or could've done to prevent that.

Clarify for me what exactly he did to quit at LSU. That was one game that we lost on a lucky deep ball. Yes, he knew he was leaving for the NFL but what exactly does a head coach do to quit and lose a game besides obvious stupid things that he obviously didn't do. He still tried to win that game, he hates losing no matter what it involves. His players were fully trained the whole year by him and continued fully executing the game plans that were set in place. Jimbo and Muschamp definitely didn't quit, they needed those jobs. I'm just not understanding what you mean by "he quit".
