This is why God created wristbands. Herb Tyler wore them as a true freshman and did just fine.
Seriously, if this kid is all that unprepared, what's gonna happen if Lee goes down? Are we that seriously fricked? Does T.C. McCartney know the playbook any better?

As of Spring practice RP was the heir apparent. So,I would assume none of the other QBs were getting first snaps. Then I assume, based on media coverage, Hatch and Lee were getting the bulk of the training in August. Though Miles was leaning Lee, Hatch was still in the hunt, since he showed the maturity that Lee didn't have.
But, you are right, I think this is what we have to work with, the good, the bad and the ugly of Lee. Miles has no choice but to try to salvage the season with this young QB.
We can wish that Hatch was healthy and we can wish that Jefferson was ready. But wish in one hand and piss it the other and see which fills up first.
I wish they would just teach Lee how to scramble a little, I realize he is slow, but he has got to learn how to run and take a hit, not just throw the ball into double coverage.

How much does he have to know to run an option?

read and sell the play...more about instincts and the ability to cut.

is he an option guy though, or just a good runner? is he even a good runner?

I think the problem was we went into the season with no SEC caliber quarterbacks. Even before he was hurt it seemed pretty clear that Hatch wasn't that guy. And although Lee showed a few glimpses, he's since collapsed due (it seems to me) primarily to inexperience.
I know we were gunning for (and got) a National Championship last year so Flynn got the lions share of snaps and the remainder went to RP. But dang it would have been nice if there was a backup plan in case RP washed out or even got hurt.
When RP was gone we were pretty much screwed for this year. It just seems to me like we need to be doing something this year to prevent us from being in the exact same situation next year. IMHO that would be to mix in a little JJ even in the tough games so we can have a legitimate competition in the offseason for next years QB.

you know this for a fact?
Actually, this isn't the first time that this has been posted by someone that is someway or another connected to the situation
So what have you heard?

I think its more about the math. Regardless of the readiness of Jefferson, the overwhelming odds are that the guy that's taken the snaps all season is more likely to make the necessary plays. And against the number one team that is losing or within striking distance all game long, you have to count on the guy that's gotten you 6 wins and only 2 losses (against Top 10 teams). The odds are way too long to count on a kid (JJ) in this kind of game that practically hasn't played at all. Now, the Mad Hatter should have changed the math...shortened the odds by forcing JJ to play more against Tulane...but then again the more playing time Lee gets in a nothing game betters the odds for Lee and LSU against a real opponent (or so logic would dictate). Les must change the odds now! Ah...it's great pontificating from the arm chair.

That's not what I want to hear. If anything that makes me question what's going on at practice. Don't get me wrong here, I'm behind the Tigers no matter what and the coaches know more than I do but when your QB is making the same mistakes over and over I think it would make more sense if he got all the snaps he could.

Jefferson should get a shot to the extent that he knows the playbook.
ding, ding, ding. If JJ can't learn 5-10 plays to come in and gain some confidence and give JL some relief...then he doesn't need to play QB. Put him somewhere else.

I really don't understand how anybody can raise the question of Miles not playing his best QB. Only 3 losses with a RSF QB is pretty good and at least one of those was probably on the D.

I love all these people with faux sources who think they know someone connected.
To say Jefferson does not know 5-10 plays is a J-O-K-E... obviously he does, but Miles thought he could win with Lee. AL was basically daring us to throw the ball ALL game and that was with our "throwing" QB, we would have seen 11 in the box with JJ in the game... That being said JJ should have played a handful of downs, maybe not a whole series even but some spot downs here & there would have been nice.

JJ's not ready? And Lee is?
Goes back to my question....You are the coach, do you put in JL that knows the plays but throws picks or you put in JJ that doesn't know the play book?

does jefferson know the pick 6 play in the playbook?
b/c if he doesn't know how to run that play, i'm good with him playing.
