He had no choice with basketball. NCAA was ready to hammer LSU, so to save face, Will Wade had to go.

ive been a pretty big Woodward hater , besides JJ and KM of course, but I have to admit I was surprised and pleased how fast he pulled the trigger on BK.

It sure looked like it came from the Governor's Mansion.

And I haven't noticed any shortage of Woodward hate around here. Not quite to Alleva levels but SW is just incompetent. Alleva was far worse than that.

Funny. Oregon didn’t make the same risk averse hire.

Georgia didn’t.

Ohio State didn’t

Texas didn’t.

Notre Dame didn’t.

Why did you include Texas in this post? Then you have two internal promotions (we've done that before, everyone hated it) and Kirby going back to his alma mater. That leaves Lanning. cool

ots of bad jobs you included there.

lots of good ones too

Your mentality is what causes us to spend $50 million to buyout a coach when it doesn’t work.

so if we hire an assistant with no head coaching experience and he fails, you will not blame Woodward for taking the chance. Just so we're clear

There are those of us LSU fans that love College basketball. Never gunna be okay with Woodward after Wade debacle. Take the sanctions keep the coach, NCAA was powerless during NIL transition at that time.

As long as he doesn’t saddle us with a massive buyout.

Buyout $ means less $ for players.

oh so now we're moving the goalposts and pretending that he didn't have almost a decade of power conference HC experience, one stop being at a blue blood. He's basically the same as Dan Lanning

So, doesn't really matter if we win as long as our boosters (not you) have to pay less next time we're hiring a coach.

according to whom? Your assumption? Do you really think that wasn't discussed when pulling the trigger to fire Kelly? this isn't the zero sum game you think it is. if it was, we'd never be in a position to fire a coach

Responsible for one of the largest, which is Kelly. You know Google is free.

Absolutely it matters if we win.

However it’s much raiser to swallow losing if you can flush a decision down the drain easily.

Hiring the massive contract big name has just as many misses as successes. Only difference between hiring an up and comer is it’s WAY more expensive to admit your mistake AND it’s harder to buy talent.

20 years ago you didn’t have to pay the roster (or at least minimally pay the roster)

Now you have to.

There is too many variables that go into a coaches success that it’s not worth it. There is no sure thing that will translate.

Your going to compare Miss State with the coaching situation at LSU?

lol wat?

Rich boosters spending their own money on things shouldn't matter to any of us. If they want to flush their own money down the toilet to fix bad hires they wanted, then who am i to care if they get burned? Had we done what most people wanted, we'd be firing Billy Napier this year and looking for another coach. The same boosters would be taking care of the buyout.

How do you think me not caring how they spend their money makes me a "liberal"

My actual taxes are used to fund government programs. Your TAF ticket donation I can assure you isn't being used to fund Kelly's buyout, so maybe relax.
