Who did Julio have to beat out for playing time? Hell, if Julio wasn't there last year I probably could have cracked the starting WR rotation at Bama. And Barkley is only starting because Corp got himself hurt and couldn't get back into practice in time. Freshman playing time is never simply a matter of the quality of the freshman; it is a weighing of the quality of the freshman and the quality of the players ahead of him when he gets there. That's why Terrance Toliver wasn't a big hit when he first arrived because he had Doucet and LaFell ahead of him.

I disagree. After watching the replay on Sunday, it is obvious that Randle is not comfortable with the playbook/routes. Not that he is untalented, he is just not ready to be a #3 receiver. I think the reason he is not getting "looks" is because the coaches are putting him in to become familiar with the pace of play as well as his assignents (routes, blocks, etc...). He obviously has the agility and talent, otherwise the coaches wouldn't waste their time (or his redshirt). I think by the Mississippi state game you will see Randle emerge as that #4 or #5 spot on the spread, except he will actually get the ball. It is not a matter of quality, it is a matter of knowing responsibility and being able to carry it out.

SC and Bama both run pro-style offenses.

The NFL players from the SEC that I've talked to (only 4) all said going from HS to the SEC was a bigger jump than going from the SEC to the NFL.

than rueben should have no problem learning about 3 plays. Short route, Wide Receiver Screen, and a reverse.

have we run a reverse this year?

I'm not saying Randle is better. I have no way to determine; but neither does anyone else.

Ummmmm...it's called coaches evaluation in practice time. It's already been determined.

What I mean't by rueben learning 3 plays is this.

1. Rueben was a QB in high school right. He would be great player to use when running the reverse and pass to Lafell.

2. He would be great to use with the wide receiver screen because he can juke also and the shut down corners will be on Lafell or Tolliver.

3. Short route as in maybe the redzone. He got hops. He is a threat in redzone.

Or we could just play RJ right now because he knows all the plays and is making it happen on the field.

julio had no receivers in front of him. corp was injured which put barkley into the starting position.

if Les started a freshman this board would be blowing up about Les not recruiting effectively. and making us rely on a freshman. for whatever reason at other schools its good coaching.

Man ya'll are ruff.. He has played some. Yes he didn't get the ball. I would of liked for les to try to get the ball to him the last 2 1/2 minutes of last game, but I don't understand his mentality for running the clock down. I would of liked him to let Shepard pass the last two minutes; maybe to Randle, but he didn't??? I don't think Randle deserves the ball all that much because who he is playing behind, but definitely some " IF HE IS OPEN". We should be able to play around some this weekend with new players. We don't have many good chances left....

I think if he was going to bring someone in to pass, it would have been Lee.
