re: Why isn't Kelly getting more criticism for end of game clock management?

Those that downvoted this have no concept that the time on the clock after the field goal could have and should have been 0.0 - Line it up and run a play then call time out with 2 seconds left if you do not score on the play - game over.
Was Les Miles calling the time outs?
If you score a touchdown they have 5 seconds maybe and HAVE TO SCORE A TD TO TIE
Arkansas got the ball back and was throwing it down field to WIN with a TD.
Ignorance complete Ignorance.

We didn’t have a TO left. That would be the better argument…why’d we use our last TO after 2nd down? (Thus forcing us to pass on 3rd down and leaving a few seconds on the clock). I would have preferred to use it after a 3rd down run. That’s what I would have done differently. If there was an error in the sequence, that was it… calling the last timeout after the 2nd down run. But I have no problem whatsoever with a coach calling a timeout before the 3 most crucial plays of the game like we did there in that situation .
Regardless, we had a great drive, scored and left them with 5 seconds. I’ll take that EVERYDAY for our final drive in a tie game.
Some think 3 knees and a FG would be the correct approach, and there’s merit there. It’s certainly an acceptable way to do it as well. Me personally I don’t like the game coming down to a FG… I’d rather get the TD with less than 20 seconds which we were attempting to do. We all have PTSD from extra points last year.
Also keep in mind…. There was never any chaos/craziness in the sequence. Which is important. That’s what you don’t want in these situations, we were always in control of the clock and situation and executed the situation near perfectly.

Yeah, having any time left after kicking the FG was the result of a whole lot of STUPID. Maybe Kelly needs to hire someone just to keep him straight on time management. I mean... it was REALLY stupid to have any time left after the FG.... REALLY.... STUPID.

BK is thought of as some amazing X and Os guru on here when his coaching is clearly showing the opposite dating back into last season.
Yeah its almost like he took over the worst lsu situation since Dinard and immediately won the sec west in year 1.

When you are suppose to be a older coach that has poise and control and is only missing a nc on your resume, this clock blunder shouldn’t happen
The frick are you talking about. Bill Belichik still has clock management issues. It literally happens to every coach at every level. Do you people follow the sport?

Something that happens to every coach at every level. You just don't hear about it because it rarely causes a loss.

Bottom line: the defense was playing, horrible, almost all game. And to give Arky an opportunity at the end of the game, any opportunity, to throw a Hail Mary or do anything else like run a kickback- was utter stupidity. Brian Kelly should have milked all the time off the clock that he could down to five seconds knowing that, his defense had played like complete shite the whole game, and they were vulnerable to a big play. He didn’t do that. And now he’s trying to sound smart.
