Why isn't Kelly getting more criticism for end of game clock management?

235Seems like the story of the game, more so than the defense. We had three timeouts and Arkansas had zero when Diggs was tackled on the 7 with 2:24 on the clock. We should have been kicking with time expiring and Arkansas should have never gotten the ball back. The situation was totally and entirely within our control.

I don't know why he felt the need to burn all the timeouts.
Should've run a running play or at least kneeled it to burn clock and then called a timeout with 3 seconds left.

Not a REALISTIC chance. How often to 60+ yard hail marys work?
Perfect would’ve been to run the ball again on third down and then use the timeout if you don’t score. OR run the FG unit out there on third down, kick the FG and if you bobble the snap, you still had 1 timeout and another down to re-try. BK did it very poorly in my opinion.

That’s usually what happened for Coach Miles too, yet people on this forum tore his head off for it.

Not good enough. Les Miles won clown games (e.g., 2010 Tenn) and was rightly criticized for it
And people are bitching about other aspects of the game, like the defense's inability to get off the field

For some bizarre reason BK is thought of as some amazing X and Os guru on here when his coaching is clearly showing the opposite dating back into last season. It will only be time before this board realize he's actually a Les Miles shadow without the charisma.

We can be happy we won but still admit it was misplayed. We gave Arkansas a shot at a kick return and a hail mary against our defense that had been struggling. It was in our complete control to not allow them to have those chances but I guess we did let them have it for the fun of it?

on 9/24/23 at 11:40 am to Lou PaiBecause there were several ways to handle that situation. Probably should have ran once more and then called the TO. Or could’ve kicked on 3rd in case of bad snap. Or could have tried to kneel and center the kick. Etc.
And I think BK was thinking arky might let us score to get the ball back so was calling TOs to get everyone on the same page.
It was kinda sloppy but not Les miles level clock mismanagement
