Every team should be shooting for a National Championship, not a participation trophy.
Honestly 10-2 should be the bare minimum, and it should still feel like a "what might have been" season if that happens. 9-3 should crank up the heat.

My point is, it's not about the number of losses, it's about what you do with the season. I can imagine a scenario (however unlikely, it doesn't matter) where LSU could still win the SEC with a 9-3 record. One loss OOC, another loss to SECE, and a win over Bama. If that were the case, 9-3 would not be a big disappointment.
If LSU lost to Bama, A&M and UF again, it would be disappointing.
