Why is the rebuild taking this long?

Hell, why are we even in a rebuild at all? Shouldn't we be a team that fits the "we don't rebuild, we reload" category?

We are a program that has the cache of being in the SEC and one of the few teams that have won multiple titles over the last two decades. Not to mention we are the flagship school in a state that produces the most NFL talent per capita almost annually.

A rebuild for a team that won a title 5 years ago shouldn’t take that long. And under no circumstance, should we ever look like the lesser physical team against a non-SEC team, yet USC's players in the trenches were bigger and much more aggressive than us.

Based on what, exactly?

Based on how the game played out last night?

Because Orgeron completely tanked our depth with the two worst recruiting classes in history in his last two years here, and then Kelly didn’t focus on recruiting and/or realize how to recruit here until this year. And he doesn’t want to use the portal for a quick fix.

The 2023/24 signing class was the first really fully fleshed out and thoughtful class in about 4 years, and this upcoming one looks good as well.

And Kelly is a coach that can’t win without the better team. He’s not going to scheme up wins if the talent isn’t there.

That’s a poor answer

LSU was far better at the lines of scrimmage last night.

This can't be the excuse for Kelly anymore. It's been 3 offseasons since O left.

Teams have reloaded or rebuilt quicker than that, hell look at USC.

That's a poor answer.

Go watch how much push, or lack thereof, our OL was getting on rush plays.

Now go watch USC's OL, particularly in the 4th quarter.

I don’t know what you are talking about lsu dominated on both sides of the ball on the line. USC had a decisive advantage in play calling and a few playmakers make some great plays and that was the difference.

Again, go watch which OL was getting more push on rush plays last night in the 4th quarter.

Not landing recruits at key positions.

CBs we've heavily recruited and missed out on the past two years: Desmond Ricks, Jayvon Thomas, Bravion Rogers, Cai Bates, Wardell Mack.

Our secondary looks vastly different if just half of those guys committed to us.

It's been rebuilt to the level you can expect under Kelly. We will be a 3 loss team at best under him until it makes sense financially to move on.

Both things can be true. A total rebuild was definitely needed after the program was completely decimated by Orgeron, but we’re now three years in and still lack top level SEC players at several positions.

Which should make it even easier for a program of our stature to rebuild quicker.

Because our coach sucks and the game has passed him by.

LSU may not even be a Top 8 SEC team this season.

There’s no metric that points to USC winning the LOS. From ypc to TFL to pressures.

LSU struggled running between the tackles. That wasn’t a lack of physicality, that was a bad matchup with DJ Chester against their best player and 2 thumping middle linebackers. Bad gameplanning and play calling.
