Food is too inexpensive (comparitively) to the concessions in the PMAC.

Post-game I would walk down behind the visitors bench and ask for the tear away jerseys. I remember getting James Brooks (AUB) #21 jersey.

That is the coolest thing I will read on the Rant this week. I am mentally kicking my 12 year old self's arse for not thinking to do this.

sadly these days this is a bad take. the union has become a cesspool for 14 yo Brayden Alyx and Jaiden to act like frat boys and srat girls and engage in illicit behavior in full view of the public. if you're mad the union is closing because wannabe ghetto white kids aren't gonna be able to act a fool and make it obvious whoever raised them is also a fool, and therefore make us look like shite, idk what to tell you.
I loved the union growing up, and as a student, but its not what it was. either LSUPD grows some balls or it needs to be closed on game days.

ps, I am happy as can be that its closed this weekend, with the Jags "takin ova B-ARE"

They just don’t want to deal with any incidents or problems.

By not opening the Student Union?

Y’all are acting like the Union is some state of the art mecca. It’s a shithole.

I'm sure having an all black local school visiting the LSU campus has nothing to do with that decision, or is this an ongoing decision for all home games?

When the bowling alley was still there we'd bowl all morning in AC to pregame for the tailgate that afternoon. They got rid of it during remodel around 2006-ish, I believe.

It was a central spot with TVs, bathrooms, and AC.

Closing it literally does nothing other than make the gameday experience worse overall.

No surprise though because LSU has done everything in their power to kill tailgating.

Yes it is. It's literally a legal requirement.

You can argue whether it should or shouldn't be, but the fact remains it is.

I don't know why, but whatever reason we have is dumb. No reason to close down the Union on gamedays.

Ok, I'm a lawyer please explain that legal requirement for the university to care for children

That's not what I said.

They don't have to "care for children." They do have to maintain safe premises for everyone, particularly children. Even (maybe especially) if those children or their parents are the ones making it unsafe for themselves.

It’s not really a central spot. The PMAC- which will offer the same things- is more central.

I’ve never tailgated and thought wow wish I could go to the Union. I fail to see how closing the Union, of all things, makes the gameday experience worse.

We complain on here about stuff like LSU fans leaving at halftime but the reality is the university has inconvenienced the fanbase so much that all the diehards no longer go to the games. Now you get a bunch of fairweathers who just want a quick casual something to do on weekend and aren't really involved with the games anyway. The university is partly responsible for killing gameday atmosphere and why this fanbase is a shell of what it use to be.

Sure within reason.

The duty does not extend to patrons intentionally causing the unsafe condition.
