LSU fans hate LSU

What he said
I realized this going to all the away games.Say its an away game weekend and I would be in Baton Rouge on that Friday not saying anything to somebody just a normal day. The first LSU person I see in the away teams town its like you run into a long lost friend cause your in enemy territory so to speak. Kind of an interesting thing to witness but it makes sense when you think about it.

Same reason the people who live in New Roads rarely use False River. It becomes commonplace, when you see the campus, shirts, bumperstickers, etc. on a daily basis.
But distance makes the heart go fonder. I always wear LSU gear when I travel and often get stopped by locals to talk LSU sports.

Owe, If you wore an LSU hat in BR and walked past me. I would give you the same courtesy and respect that I would if I saw you in Boise Idaho.

When I lived in California, I always spoke to someone wearing LSU gear. In Austin, not so much as there are lots of fans here. Go to a bar to watch a game and you don't even speak to the next table.
The further away, there's a feeling of connecting with home, while in a remote land, I guess.

Good point, born and raised BR and being away has made me take this for granite.

But when I was in NC last week
How often do you think that guy in NC bumps into a LSU fan as opposed to the guy on Oneal?

If he walked past me I'd applaud him and give him high five! YEAH!
Anyways, did you give a Geaux Tigers to someone and they flipped you off or something? You seem pissed!

Nah, just comparing the two different areas since I was in BR this week.

Sort of like how sausage is better if you don't see it made. Also, being OOS myself, I always get excited to see another Tiger fan, but it's obviously not as big a deal to see one in BR.
You think distance has a high correlation on whether people are happy or unhappy?

Do you know how many "geaux tigers" someone would have to give if they said it to everyone they saw with LSU clothing in BR?

And I say it back but would look at you like it is obvious you are from out of town and hope you don't do it to everyone else you see with LSU stuff on.

people further from LA are longing for the tribe and sense of bonding.

So, whenever you are in BR, you are stopping 2000 people a day to talk to them or shouting "Geaux Tigers" at them? I'll bet they would start to find that annoying. In Boise, Idaho, you'd probably only see one LSU fan every now and then, so it would make more sense.

You expect people to Geaux Tigers every LSU fan they see in BR?
It is because you don't see Tigers everywhere when you are farther away from BR. So you say something. People in BR aren't going to talk to every single person they see.
