I've already proven that LSU did not have a middle of the pack offense in the SECW.

I posted YPG stats. You can draw you own conclusions. Typically, over the course of a season, things like short fields, etc shake out in the wash. It's a single metric.

And by your logic, Texas A&M had a worse offense than LSU even though you said it was better earlier...

I'm not following you on this.

First time in SEC history with a 3,000 yard passer, two 1,000 yard receivers and a 1,400 yard runner. I'd call that balanced and effective.

ALL OF THESE GUYS ARE STARTING IN THE NFL RIGHT NOW!!! Does that mean that we have to have this type of talent to have offensive production? Does it matter that all of our yards went to just a few players or would be it worse if those yards were spread out over a few more receivers/running backs?

Recruiting duel threat quarterbacks....They can hand off to the running back and pitch out to the running back.

Does it really matter to you as long as you accumulate more than your opponent? Or do you want to be Washington State / Texas A&M / Auburn?

yes, I would like to accumulate more points than my opponent. If we accumulated more than our opponents we would win more games

College stats have a misrepresentation in favor of running QBs and spread teams for YPC since sacks count against rushing yards.

So the fact that LSU had 5 YPC with Mett's sacks included is pretty impressive

We averaged 5.7 ypc from our running backs

2013 Sack-Adjusted Rushing Stats - Yards Per Game & Yards Per Attempt

LSU - 217.4 YPG, 5.7 YPA

Oregon - 265 YPG, 6.3 YPA

Baylor - 251 YPG, 5.4 YPA

Obviously sacks skew rushing yardage (ST plays can also skew the numbers somewhat), but you also have to take into consideration -- rushing yardage gained on designed pass plays -- where the QB improvises and scrambles to gain positive yards. But you can't completely discount QB Rushing Yards because for many teams it is a significant, sometimes primary, part of their rushing attack.

Also, don't misread me, I agree that LSU's 2013 statistics were impressive. That offense was loaded with talent.

Pedestrian offenses don't lead all of college football in third down conversions.

Yeah, Cam has never developed any good quarterbacks. My gosh. He developed a top 10 Heisman finisher, two Pro Bowlers, and a Super Bowl champ. That doesn't even count Mett.

yes we had great talent that bailed us out quite often on 3rd down last year, no one in their right mind would argue that they didn't. Jarvis and OBJ made a lot of spectacular catches in clutch situations, Mett made great throws, and Hill is one tough SOB and hard to bring down. Still finished middle of the pack though. What was our final poll ranking? Where did our offense finish statistically compared to other offenses around the country? Fair to middlin on both accounts especially for a big time SEC program.

No you didn't. All you proved was that last year's offense was more productive than this year's.

It really does appear that short of having the type of talent that can start as rookies in the NFL, we blow at passing.

College football as a whole would be a complete fricking eyesore if this standard were reality across the board.
