Why is it so difficult for LSU to develop a passing game?

Other teams make it look so simple, for this team it seems to be a monumental task. Is the talent level really that bad? Have we wiffed in recruiting recievers and QB's or does the problem lie elsewhere?

The coach believes that only 3 things can happen when a pass is thrown...and two of them are bad

Woody Hayes and Darrell Royal

We will never know. To me we don't have an identity. We recruit players that run the spread to run a prostyle offense. We hire coaches that run the spread yet try to run a prostyle offense. Makes no sense at all.

I think Les wants a qb that can throw the ball but has mobility. We can't seem to find that.

I think he wants someone that is like JJ. Runs the ball and throws the ball. Not great at either and not terrible at either.

so does he also look for wr's that have trouble getting open and can't catch?

yeah it was ok. We finished middle of the pack in the SEC statiscally with two NFL WR's and a NFL QB. Not bad I suppose.

1) Miles is as old school as he can be, and the successes of the running-mostly-and-wear-them-out-in-the-4th-quarter plan makes him think it will allow him to continue to contend for a championship.

2) We recruit HS QB's who are coached by HS coaches who selfishly rely on their athletic skills, and they do not learn how to develop field vision, and when that is coupled with #1 above, they are on a slow learning curve, which if not corrected in the first 5-10 games as a QB in the SEC, will be entrenched as a mental thought pattern which is horribly hard to break.

when you are not looking for it...you will not find it.

we either do not find the right QB or we do not want to develop HIM, only develop our style our game.

can someone really say that Cam could not/should not be able to develop a passing attack ?

His history with the Ravens says otherwise..but he is not the boss.

Maybe we shouldn't worry about developing a competent passing game anyway. We can still win 8-9 games a season without it. Probably won't beat Bama again for a long time without it, but we will win most of our other games.

Billy Gonzalez. Didn't work.

Idk we did fine last year. Just poor evaluation most of the time.
