I agree. But we don’t give much run support on Friday nights. Maybe he is pressing too much and if he could pitch a lil relax he could dominate a game

I don’t think it has anything to do with it being Friday night. His struggles has been more mechanics than anything.

It's a mistake. He'll get shelled.

It is because he is the best option this week.
The good news is that if CPM made the decision to move Hess to the bullpen it is because we have other pitchers that are going to be able to take over soon. I have a feeling we see Stortz, Hill and Henry all in the next three weeks and I wouldn't be surprised to see Cole pitch next weekend.
If we do and they are healthy, this could be a very good team down the stretch.

Because PM has overmanaged and lost this team.
His hunches haven't worked this year.

Find me another pitcher that can go 5-6 who hasn’t had a bad inning and who isn’t hurt. B

Agreed!
But,
If we do not hit better and score more runs then it won't matter who pitches.
This team will not win the SEC West regular season, WILL host a regional but will not host a super regional unless they win the SEC Tournament.
PM is getting this team ready for the postseason!
He is being over cautious with Henry, making the right move with Hess at the right time and basically checking Hilliards package as a starter with an eye on the postseason!

and score more runs
In conference games LSU has scored 136 runs which is fourth best in the conference after Miss St, Vanderbilt and Arkansas.

For starters, the only one of those that LSU has played lost the series at their stadium.

I understand the Hess deal. But why is Hilliard starting? He gave up 6 in one inning against UF?

The other day, Patrick Corbin gave up like 6 runs in one inning against the Cardinals. I guess the Nationals should cut him.

I think Hilliard is starting mostly out of necessity, i.e., we ain't got no one better available.

That said, Hilliard can pitch. His velocity ain't bad (hit 91 vs UF). But he needs to stop throwing and start pitching. IOW, he needs to hit his spots, not the radar gun.

I'm sure it's frustrating for him. He knows he can pitch well at this level.

So this was supposed to be the deepest staff we have had and surprise surprise, we have a ton of injuries. Starting to think the Pelicans medical staff is also the LSU trainers for the baseball team.
