I love Alex Box. Suits me fine and don't give a rip about keeping up with the Joneses. Oh, and don't we usually have a pretty good attendance at our decrepit field?

It's not that. It's atmosphere. You can't build atmosphere in a pasture that feels like it's 10 miles from campus.

Are you saying that the atmosphere at the Old Box was better because it was closer to Nicholson?

It’s up there with Ole Miss. State lost something with the new park. But that thing is awesome.

Yeah we haven’t had a packed house SRO game in awhile. The box just feels cheap. From the bleachers, they hefty bags for a batters eye, and the slathering of ads on every inch of the stadium including the drink holders.

It was also designed to squeeze every dollar out of it as possible. Things that help liven up the place were left out because skip couldn’t monetize those things

The bleachers are there simply because it holds more people for much cheaper. Period. It’s embarrassing the premier team (at the time) took that route.

Take the bullpens off the field and put them in right center behind the fence.
Then you could reconfigure and replace the bleachers down the lines with chairbacks .
Then I would remove the bleachers in the outfield and do some sort of club seating/ outdoor dining… think of the walkons home run bistro. You could have high top or rail seating along the fence on 2 levels amd then a standing room only deck, with a walkons restaurant. The area requires tickets to the game

Here’s what I see, forget money aka Walmart. I see flags waving wall to wall people, loud. The old box had the same atmosphere, hecklers in left ( I see ya left field lunatics) coons corner was brutal, oh and the bullpen bully’s. I don’t know where Gibbs and jay are theses days but when I was a kid mid 90s they gave the left fielder hell in good spirit. I’ve been to many in the new box and it’s not just the box, the fans are different. Back then you waited for scores now you have phones.
