I think the thing that makes 2006 so memorable is because I feel that we left a NC on the field. If we didn't have that Buffon on the sidelines we could have overcame all the other stuff and still have won those games.

we left NC's on field some argue 2005 but i do not due to Katrina albeit we had the talent

however 06, 2011, 2012 and 2016 all had the talent to win it all.

He also ran a 5.0 at the combine as a LB, which led to him being undrafted.

He was one hell of a college player, that team was undervalued if anything.

One of the best seasons of LSU football, and you think its overvalued.

This is 100% the answer for us not winning in 2006 and 2011. Lets not forget he did everything in his power to try and sabotage 2007!

If I remember correctly they had a TD called back right before half on a bs holding call against florida that completely shifted the momentum. The 7-3 auburn game was the bs pass interference call on doucet on 4th down, however I won’t make excuses for the offense. A Jamarcus russel, early doucet, buster davis, and Dwayne Bowe lead offense should never muster only 3 points no matter how good auburns D was. They beat #8 ranked tenn on the road and the win against arakansas is nothing to scoff at, Arkansas went to the sec championship that year

Then you have the absolute dismantling of Notre dame in the sugar bowl and Lee corso’s famous words when asked “who received the worst bowl draw?” And he answered “easily Notre dame, I wouldn’t want to play lsu if I was the indionapolis colts”

They were a fantastic team but for some reason for all the offensive fire power they had they struggled to find the endzone at times. I was only 16 back then so can’t remember if it was a Jamarcus issue or a jimbo issue

Oh and ali high smith was the absolute man. He had 20 tackles in that 07 loss to Arkansas and every one of them was an absolute collision on McFadden. By your argument Tim Tebow was “nothing special” because he didn’t translate to the nfl and I’ll take xenon and chevis jackson on the corners all day

I remember watching this game in Houston at my Aunts house because we were evacuated, and I remember listening to the Tenn game on a small radio because we did not have tv after the storm.

I kind of miss those days, I love being able to see all of the LSU games but there is definitely an oversaturation problem with sports programming

Aside from the obvious talent they had on this team we also got robbed a game that season. LSU should've been +1 and possibly in the championship game if they won Auburn. We all know the refs handed that game to AU.

I listen to most LSU baseball games as I cant sit down that long. So I put them on and do work around the house.

So, was Tim Tebow not the second best college QB to ever lace them up. At minimum he's top 3. But he sucked in the pro's. Your argument doesn't hold water.

We ran the ball A LOT in that Auburn game and came up with 3 points. Our Defense was awesome and Leslie thought he could win it grinding them down. Which made absolutely zero sense considering the firepower our passing game had that year. He played it real conservative and cost us an SEC championship appearance.

Les wasted more offensive talent than any coach I
remember.NS wins at least 2 NCs with what he left LM and
theres no way he loses 2 games a year with those rosters
from 2005-2007.
LM game plans were abortions of offensive football and
pelini sucked as DC.

Dude he sucked in 2019 but his defenses in those days were bad arse. That 07 defense would have been even better if they don’t lose big Charles Alexander at tackle and remember Beckwith played the last 3 games on a bum ankle. That’s why McFadden ran wild.

That team could have and should have won the NC. That defense may have been the most intimidating in LSU football history.

Sitting in the stands during the Arizona game, you could literally feel the intimidation and fear exuding from the Arizona offense.

That season proved two things:

1) Les Miles’s absolute ceiling was losing two games even with NC-level talent.

2) You’re a perpetual shitposter.

People keep talking about bad game planning by Miles but there was no chance of winning that game. Every viable drive was torpedoed by bad calls and blatant cheating.

i agree. we were playing a top 10 sec team ON THE ROAD. when the refs kill 4 drives that were headed for scores that is ballgame. you are not getting anymore chances against that type of defense.

By this logic Tebow wasn't that great at qb.
